Elie Kayrouz
Elie Keyrouz ( ar, إيلي كيروز, born 1958) is a Lebanese Maronite politician and a member of the Lebanese Forces party. He has been an MP in the Lebanese Parliament as a representative of Bsharri District since the 2005 legislative elections. Kayrouz has been the head of Bcharre bureau in the LF since 1992. He was arrested in August, 2001 in a crackdown on Anti-Syrian Christian groups (namely, the LF and the Free Patriotic Movement) and released on bail in November. He is married with three children. 2005 Lebanese General Election
General elections were held in Lebanon in May and June 2005 to elect the 128 members of the Parliament of Lebanon. They were the second elections in thirty years without a Syrian military or intelligence presence in Lebanon. Lebanese Maronite Christians ( ar, المسيحية المارونية في لبنان; syc, ܡܫܝܚܝ̈ܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܢܝܐ ܕܠܒܢܢ) are adherents of the Maronite Church in Lebanon, which is the largest Christian denomination in the country. Free Patriotic Movement
The Free Patriotic Movement ( ar, التيار الوطني الحر, ) is a Lebanese political party. Founded by Michel Aoun in 2005, the party is currently led by Aoun son-in-law Gebran Bassil since 2015. Ideology The Free Patriotic movement follows Lebanese nationalism and follows the agenda of Gen. Michel Aoun. FPM is anti-refugee, pro-civil state. Christianity in Lebanon has a long and continuous history. Biblical Scriptures purport that Peter and Paul evangelized the Phoenicians, whom they affiliated to the ancient patriarchate of Antioch. The spread of Christianity in Lebanon was very slow where paganism persisted especially in the mountaintop strongholds of Mount Lebanon. A 2015 study estimates some 2,500 Lebanese Christians have Muslim ancestry, whereas the majority of Lebanese Christians are direct descendants of the original early Christians. Bsharri District
Bsharri District is one of the 7 districts (''qadaa, قضاء'') of the North Governorate, Lebanon. Overview and geography Surrounded by mountains, the Bsharri District sits on cliffs. The district is bordered by the Zgharta and Miniyeh-Danniyeh Districts to the north, the Koura District to the west, the Baalbek District to the east, and the Batroun District to the south.
