Elias Shaheen
Elias Shaheen or Elias Chahine (in Arabic الياس شاهين) (20 July 1914 in Ebrine, Lebanon – 5 December 1991) was the first bishop of the Maronite Church in Canada and in 1985 was appointed Archbishop of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal. Life Shaheen was born in Ebrine, Lebanon. On March 25, 1939, he was consecrated priest. He was appointed first Maronite bishop of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal on August 27, 1982. Maronite Patriarch of Antioch, Cardinal Anthony Peter Khoraish, consecrated him bishop on November 7, 1982 and his co-consecrators were Archeparch Francis Mansour Zayek of Brooklyn and the Auxiliary bishop of Antioch, Bishop Roland Aboujaoudé. On March 13, 1985 Elias Shaheen was appointed Archbishop of Montréal. On November 23, 1990 he became Archbishop emeritus and was until his death on 5 December 1991. The Maronite Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal (in Latin: Eparchia Sancti Maronis Marianopolitana Maronitarum) is a Maronite Church ecclesiastical territory or eparchy of the Catholic Church in Canada. In 2014 there were 87,900 baptized. It is currently ruled by Eparch Paul Marwan Tabet. This is a list of the Maronite patriarchs of Antioch and all the East, the primate of the Maronite Church, one of the Eastern Catholic Churches. Starting with Paul Peter Massad in 1854, after becoming patriarch of the Maronite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch, they assume the name "Peter" (Boutros in Arabic, بطرس ), after the traditional first Bishop of Antioch, St. Peter, who was also the head of the Apostles. A cardinal ( la, Sanctae Romanae Ecclesiae cardinalis, literally 'cardinal of the Holy Roman Church') is a senior member of the clergy of the Catholic Church. Patriarch Moran Mor Anthony III Peter Khoraish (September 20, 1907 – August 19, 1994), (or ''Antonios Boutros Khoraish'', ''Antoine Pierre Khreich'', ''Khraish'', ''Khoraiche'', ar, أنطونيوس الثالث بطرس خريش), was the 75th Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the Whole Levant from 1975 until his resignation in 1986, and a cardinal of the Catholic Church. Francis Mansour Zayek
Archbishop Francis Mansour Zayek (Arabic: فرنسيس منصور الزايك ; born October 18, 1920, Manzanillo, Cuba – died on September 14, 2010) was a prelate of the Maronite Church. He was the founding eparch of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Brooklyn, an Eastern Catholic diocese based in Brooklyn, New York, which covers the eastern coast of the United States. Roland Aboujaoudé (7 September 1930 – 2 May 2019) was a Lebanese Catholic Maronite eparch of the Maronite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch. Life Roland Aboujaoudé was born on 7 September 1930 in Jal-Edib, Lebanon. He was ordained priest on 25 April 1959. On 12 July 1975, Aboujaoudé was appointed patriarchal vicar of Antioch and titular bishop of Arca in Phoenicia dei Maroniti. Georges Abi-Saber, O.L.M. (May 12, 1923 – August 26, 2015) was a Lebanese Hierarch of Maronite Church and former eparch of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Latakia and Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal. Life Abi-Saber was born in Wadi Sette, Lebanon and was ordained a priest on July 16, 1952 from the religious order of the Lebanese Maronite Order. He was appointed bishop of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Latakia by Pope Paul VI on August 4, 1977 and ordained bishop on November 12, 1977. Lebanese Maronite Order
The Baladites, formally known as the Lebanese Maronite Order (; abbreviated OLM), is a monastic order among the Levant-based, Catholic Maronite Church, which from the beginning has been specifically a monastic Church. The order was founded in 1694 in the Monastery of Mart Moura, Ehden, Lebanon, by three Maronite young men from Aleppo, Syria, under the patronage of Patriarch Estephan El Douaihy (1670–1704).
