Elgin City Football Club (also known as City or The Black and Whites) is a professional senior football club based in Elgin, Moray. Elgin was founded in 1893 and originally played their football in the Highland Football League. The club was granted league status in 2000. They currently compete in the Scottish Professional Football League in Scottish League Two. History The present Elgin City club was formed on 10 August 1893 by the amalgamation of two Elgin sides, Rovers (Formed 1887) and Vale of Lossie (Founded 1888). However the name Elgin City was used by two clubs prior to this. The first was formed in October 1879, but lasted for only a short time. The second Elgin City was formed in October 1884 and lasted until early 1887. Borough Briggs
Borough Briggs is a football ground in Elgin, Moray, Scotland and is the most northerly football league stadium in Great Britain. This venue is the home ground of Elgin City who currently play in the Scottish League Two. Borough Briggs opened on 20 August 1921 when Inverness Citadel were the visitors in a Highland League fixture, which Elgin won 3–0. The first player to score at the ground was City centre-half Willie Raitt after 20 minutes of the first-half at the Lossie Green end, other scorers were Alf Mitchell and Charlie Taylor. The new ground replaced Elgin's temporary ground from 1919 to 1921 at Cooper Park. It has a capacity of ; 478 seated. All 478 seats in the main stand were formerly fixed at Newcastle United's St James' Park ground. Lossiemouth ( gd, Inbhir Losaidh) is a town in Moray, Scotland. Originally the port belonging to Elgin, it became an important fishing town. Although there has been over 1,000 years of settlement in the area, the present day town was formed over the past 250 years and consists of four separate communities that eventually merged into one. From 1890 to 1975, it was a police burgh as Lossiemouth and Branderburgh. Stotfield, the first significant settlement (discounting Kinneddar which has now disappeared), lies to the north west of the town. Next was the Seatown – a small area between the river and the canal inholding of 52 houses, 51 of which are the historic fisher cottages. James Ross Jack (born 21 March 1959) is a Scottish football player and manager. Playing career A striker, Jack began his career with Ross County, where he played in the Highland Football League at the age of 14. He then joined Everton, initially as an apprentice before graduating to the professional ranks. He made only a solitary, goalscoring appearance, for Everton and, after a loan spell at Cardiff City, he joined Norwich City for £20,000 in December 1979. He would have to wait almost a year before making his Norwich debut against Ipswich Town in the League Cup in September 1980. In the 1981–82 season, he scored 10 league goals for Norwich and, with two in the FA Cup and two more in the Football League Cup, was the club's leading scorer for the season. In the summer of 1983, a fee of £15,000 secured his transfer to Lincoln City where he remained for the next two seasons. Robbie Williamson
Robert Williamson (born 25 April 1969) is a Scottish former footballer, and former manager of Scottish League Third Division club Elgin City. Williamson played in midfield for Ross County for most of his professional career. Playing career Williamson was born in Inverness and began his playing career with local Highland League club Clachnacuddin FC. As a youngster he joined Glasgow Rangers under manager Graeme Souness at that time, only to return to Inverness due to homesickness. He joined Ross County, and was with the club when they were accepted into the Scottish Football League in 1994. Williamson spent five seasons playing for County in the Third Division, eventually winning the league title and promotion in his final year. A leg break ended his playing career, and he was awarded a testimonial by Ross County which saw Coventry City visit Victoria Park. Deveronvale Football Club are a senior association football club currently playing the Highland Football League in Scotland. They were founded in 1938 and play their football at the Princess Royal Park in the town of Banff, (formerly Banffshire, now officially Aberdeenshire), Scotland. The club was formed in 1938 when Deveron Valley and Banff Rovers joined together. The name comes from the River Deveron, which has its mouth at Banff. After they were formed, it took them one year to get into the Highland League. In August 1939, Deveronvale played their first league game. Their first win came a month later. Brian Irvine (footballer)
Brian Irvine (born 24 May 1965 in Bellshill, Scotland) is a former international footballer who played as a central defender for Falkirk, Aberdeen, Dundee, Ross County and managed Elgin City. He was capped nine times by Scotland. Career After working in a bank on leaving school, Irvine began his professional career with Falkirk in 1983, aged 18. During his spell with the ''Bairns'', he became an evangelical Christian. After two years and nearly forty league appearances at Brockville, Irvine moved to Aberdeen, the team he had supported as a child, for a fee of £110,000. During twelve years with the ''Dons'', Irvine made over 350 appearances in all competitions, gradually becoming a regular in the defence alongside Alex McLeish as veteran captain Willie Miller's career came to an end.
