Elexorien was a power/ viking metal band from Groningen, Netherlands. Musical characteristics Elexorien played a mixture of power and viking metal with growls and classically trained female vocals, also taking influences from folk, black and death metal. The term "Epic Battle metal" is how the band defined their own sound. Band history Formation and debut album (2004–2008) Founded in 2004 by Lainedil (guitarist, growls), Grimbert (keyboard), Liza (bass) and Joris (drums), they first went under the name Tearful Dawn. They then changed their name to Elexorien, which is taken from one of Kit Rae's fantasy blades from the Swords of the Ancients. In 2005 they were joined by vocalist Iné and guitarist Wolve. With these additions they finished up their line-up and went to play concerts in Netherlands, supporting bands like Ensiferum, Suffocation and Korpiklaani. God Dethroned is a Dutch extreme metal band from Beilen, originally formed in 1990. Biography God Dethroned was formed in 1990 by singer and guitar player Henri Sattler, with Hans Leegstra (guitar) and Ard de Weerd. Sattler and Leegstra had previously been in Dysentery; Leegstra, quickly after the band formed, left the music scene altogether. They recorded a demo, ''Christ Hunt'', in 1991, after which Marco Arends joined on bass. Their first album, ''The Christhunt'', was released on the German label Shark. Meanwhile, Arends left (to rejoin Altar) and was replaced by Marcel Beukeveld. ''The Christhunt'' did poorly; the label had refused to feature a dissected rat on the cover and did not promote the record at all. Korpiklaani (Finnish: ) is a Finnish folk metal band from Lahti who was formerly known as Shamaani Duo and Shaman. History Shamaani Duo While other folk metal bands began with metal before adding folk music, Korpiklaani started with folk music before turning metal. The roots of Korpiklaani can be traced back to a Sámi folk music group under the name of "Shamaani Duo", an "in house restaurant band" created by Jonne Järvelä in 1993. Folk Metal
Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s.
