Electric Digger Dandy
''Electric Digger Dandy'' is the third solo studio album by Australian singer/songwriter James Reyne released in June 1991. The album was released in the United States as ''Any Day Above Ground''. The album peaked at number 3 on the ARIA Charts and remains Reyne's highest-charting album. The album saw Reyne's return to a more electric sound. It features the singles "Slave", "Any Day Above Ground" and "Some People", as well as a new, acoustic rendition of the Australian Crawl song " Reckless". Reception Tomas Mureika of AllMusic wrote that on "''Electric Digger Dandy'' Reyne expanded his musical boundaries with collaborations with Jim Vallance and Tony Joe White. James Reyne
James Michael Nugent Reyne OAM (born 19 May 1957) is an Australian rock musician and singer-songwriter both in solo work and, until 1986, with the band Australian Crawl. Biography Early years Reyne was born in Lagos, Nigeria. His father, Rodney Michael Reyne, was an English-born former Royal Marine, who served as aide-de-camp to the Governor of the state of Victoria, Sir Dallas Brooks, and subsequently worked for British Petroleum. His paternal grandfather, Cecil Nugent Reyne, was an English rear admiral. His mother, Judith Graham, née Leask, was a teacher. His younger brother, David Reyne, was also born in Nigeria. The family moved to Victoria in late 1959, where a younger sister Elisabeth was born. Reckless (Australian Crawl Song)
"Reckless" (aka "Reckless (Don't Be So)", "Reckless (Don't You Be So)", "She Don't Like That") is a 1983 song from the EP ''Semantics'' by Australian band Australian Crawl. The song showed a change in the line up of the band as drummer Bill McDonough was temporarily replaced by Graham Bidstrup (also on keyboards). After the EP was released, Bidstrup was replaced by John Watson (drums). The EP ''Semantics'' charted on the Australian Singles Charts to reach #1 and consequently some sources list "Reckless" as a #1 single. NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. It was written by lead singer and guitarist James Reyne. Listeners of Triple M voted "Reckless" the 39th best song of all time in 2007; it was the highest placed Australian Crawl song. Eric Lowen
Lowen & Navarro was a songwriting team composed of David Eric Lowen and Dan Navarro, who met in Los Angeles, California, in the 1980s. They wrote the song "We Belong," which became a major hit for Pat Benatar in 1984, and the song "Hammerhead Shark" which was re-written and included on David Lee Roth's gold certified 1991 album "A Little Ain't Enough". They became active as a performing group in 1987. In 1990, they began to release a number of records of their own, including "Learning To Fall" and "Purpose". On March 17, 2004, Lowen was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Because of compromises to his playing and singing, Lowen & Navarro ceased touring. Kenny Aronoff (born March 7, 1953) is an American session drummer. Early life Aronoff grew up in Stockbridge, Massachusetts He developed an interest in music at an early age and gravitated to the drums as "drumming was one hundred percent energy". Career In 1980, Aronoff joined John Cougar's band, and remained for 17 years. Throughout his career, Aronoff has toured or recorded with such artists as the Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Seger, Willie Nelson, John Fogerty, Michelle Branch, Tony Iommi, Melissa Etheridge, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jon Bon Jovi. Richard Arnold Pleasance is an Australian rock musician and producer. He was a founding member of Boom Crash Opera on guitar, bass guitar, vocals and as a songwriter in 1985; they released three albums before Pleasance left in 1992. Their hit Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) singles, "Great Wall" (No. 5, 1986) and "Onion Skin" (No. 11, 1989) were co-written by Pleasance, who also co-produced their second album, '' These Here Are Crazy Times'' (No. 10, 1989). His debut solo release, ''Galleon'' received four nominations at the ARIA Music Awards for 1992. Stephen Frank Housden (born ) is an English-born Australian musician. He joined the rock group Little River Band (LRB) in 1981 on lead guitar and vocals and ceased performing with them in 2006. Previously, Housden had worked as a session musician for various Australian artists. During the 1970s he was a member of Stevie Wright's band and Marcia Hines' touring and session bands. John Robert Hiatt (born August 20, 1952) is an American singer-songwriter. He has played a variety of musical styles on his albums, including new wave, blues, and country. Hiatt has been nominated for nine Grammy Awards and has been awarded a variety of other distinctions in the music industry. Tony Joe White (July 23, 1943 – October 24, 2018), nicknamed the Swamp Fox, was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for his 1969 hit "Polk Salad Annie" and for "Rainy Night in Georgia", which he wrote but which was first made popular by Brook Benton in 1970.
