Electoral District Of Narre Warren South
The electoral district of Narre Warren South is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, containing the suburbs of Cranbourne North, Hampton Park, Lynbrook and Narre Warren South. The seat has only been in existence since the 2002 election. Dale Wilson was the inaugural sitting member, but he was defeated by Tim Holding staffer Judith Graley in a preselection battle in early 2006. Hampton Park is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 36 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey local government area. Hampton Park recorded a population of 26,082 at the 2021 census. Hampton Park is bounded by the South Gippsland Freeway in the west, Centre Road in the north, a line generally parallel to Langbourne Drive in the east, and Glasscocks Road in the south. The original development of Hampton Park dates from the post World War I era, when the area around Somerville Road was subdivided, with the Post Office opening on 22 November 1920. Electricity was connected in Hampton Park in 1942 and town water in 1961. Until these services were connected the people relied on lamps and tank water for their light and water needs. Lynbrook is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 36 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey local government area. Lynbrook recorded a population of 9,121 at the 2021 census. Lynbrook is positioned on the South Gippsland Highway, slightly north-west of Cranbourne, and just south of the residential suburb of Hampton Park. Lynbrook is bounded by Dandenong Hastings Road in the west, the South Gippsland Freeway in the north, by a line north of Merinda Park railway station in the east, and the railway line in the south. Narre Warren South is an outer suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 39 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey local government area. Narre Warren South recorded a population of 30,909 at the 2021 census. As of April 2005, the area is one of the fastest growing areas within the state of Victoria. 2002 Victorian State Election
The 2002 Victorian state election, held on Saturday, 30 November 2002, was for the 55th Parliament of Victoria. It was held to elect the 88 members of Victorian Legislative Assembly and 22 members of the 44-member Legislative Council. The Labor government led by Premier Steve Bracks was returned for a second term with a landslide, taking 62 seats, a gain of 20. It was easily the biggest majority that Labor had ever won in Victoria, and one of Labor's best-ever performances at the state level in Australia. Additionally, it was only the third time that a Labor government had been reelected in Victoria. Dale Lester Wilson (born 7 June 1953) is an Australian politician, and a former member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Narre Warren South. He was elected in 2002. He is a member of the Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party and a member of its Socialist Left (Australia), Socialist Left faction. In March 2006, Wilson was opposed and defeated by Judith Graley in a pre-selection ballot for ALP endorsement. She was supported by the Labor Right. Judith Ann Graley (born 26 January 1957) is an Australian politician. Graley was born in Sunshine, Victoria, and graduated from Sunshine West High School in 1974. She attended La Trobe University from 1975 to 1978, receiving a BA (Hons), and went on to receive a Diploma of Education from the University of Melbourne in 1979. In 1980 she returned to La Trobe University as a tutor in the Department of Politics, and the following year became a secondary teacher at Footscray. Judith Graley served as a local government councillor for the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council from 1997 to 2003 and was its mayor from 2000 to 2001.
