Electoral District Of Morley-Swan
Morley is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. Morley existed as an electoral district from 1974 to 1996, and was restored as an electorate name in 2008. Between 1983 and 1989 it was known was Morley-Swan. The district is situated in the northern suburbs of Perth. Geography Situated in the densely populated inner northern suburbs of Perth, the district covers the entirety of the suburbs of Nollamara and Noranda; and parts of Beechboro, Dianella and Morley. History Morley was first created for the 1974 state election. At the 1983 state election, it was renamed Morley-Swan with the abolition of Swan. The district reverted to the name Morley at the 1989 state election and was abolished ahead of the 1996 state election. Amber-Jade Sanderson
Amber-Jade Sanderson (born 25 October 1976) is an Australian Labor Party politician who is the member for Morley in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, the lower house of the Parliament of Western Australia. Since 21 December 2021, she has been Minister for Health and Minister for Mental health. From 19 March 2021 to 21 December 2021, she was Minister for Environment, Minister for Climate Action and Minister for Commerce. Clive Morris Brown (born 31 December 1946) is an Australian former politician and minister in the Gallop Government. Arthur Raymond Tonkin (21 January 1930 – 5 May 2022) was an Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1971 to 1987. Reece Raymond Whitby (born 29 May 1964) is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly since the 2017 state election, representing Baldivis. Shortly after the 2017 election, Whitby was appointed by Premier of Western Australia Mark McGowan as Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer and Minister for Energy and Finance, and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Environment and Disability Services. How-to-vote Card
How-to-vote cards (HTV) are small leaflets that are handed out by party supporters during elections in Australia. Voting in the Australian lower house uses a preferential voting system. Voters must rank every candidate on the ballot in order for their vote to count. There are often numerous candidates on the ballot, some with little public profile, so voters may find it difficult to decide on all of them. Parties produce how-to-vote cards ostensibly to help voters. They contain details about the candidate or party as well as instruction how to cast a ranked vote in the order that the party would prefer the voter follow. The flow of preferences can assist the party dispersing the cards directly and indirectly help allied parties. The use of HTV cards have benefited minor parties in a number of ways including increasing their chances of winning, punishing opponents and receiving policy commitments. John D'Orazio
John Biase D'Orazio (5 September 1955 – 11 April 2011) was an Australian politician who served as the member for Ballajura in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 10 February 2001 to 6 September 2008. He was a minister in the governments of Geoff Gallop and Alan Carpenter, and a member of the Australian Labor Party until 29 August 2006, when he resigned following several controversies. Born to Italian immigrants, D'Orazio grew up on a market garden in the Perth suburb of Bayswater. He studied pharmacy at the Western Australian Institute of Technology, later opening his own pharmacy business. In 1981, he was elected to the Bayswater council, and in 1984, he became the mayor of Bayswater, in which position he served until 2001. Ian Britza
Ian Maxwell Britza (born 7 May 1954) is an Australian politician. He was a Liberal Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2017, representing Morley. He won the seat, despite its notional Labor margin, partly due to the preference flow from Independent candidate John D'Orazio. During the 2008–09 holiday season and again in 2011–12 Britza travelled to Texas on Parliamentary Accredited Finance to provide him with an "in-depth knowledge and understanding of policy matters" and a detailed report was given to Parliament as is required. Yokine was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Western Australia from 1996 to 2008. It was named for the northern Perth suburb of Yokine which fell within its borders. Ballajura was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia from 1996 to 2005. The district was based in the north-eastern suburbs of Perth. It was a marginal seat held by both major parties over the course of its short existence. Geography Ballajura was a north-to-south elongated electorate squeezed between Alexander Drive and Beechboro Road.
