Kearns, New South Wales
Kearns is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 57 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Campbelltown and is part of the Macarthur region. History Kearns was named after a local farmer, William Kearns, who owned a large property in the area during the 1800s. He gained notoriety for a court case in 1824 where a neighbour sued him for getting his 14-year-old daughter pregnant. During the case, Kearns was defended by William Charles Wentworth a young Lawyer at the time, Wentworth had evidence proving the neighbour was a man who lied about other matters so not a person to be trusted. Stan Knowles
Stanley Alfred James Knowles (9 June 1931 – 30 December 2017), known as Stan Knowles, was an Australian politician elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Knowles was educated at Burwood Primary School and Ashfield Boys High School and became a small business operator. He married Marie in June 1955 and they had two sons. He was elected as an alderman of Liverpool City Council from 1976 until 1982 and was deputy mayor from 1980 to 1982. Knowles was elected as the Labor Party member for Ingleburn in 1981 and re-elected until Ingleburn's abolition in 1988; he was then elected as the member for Macquarie Fields. St Andrews, New South Wales
St Andrews is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 55 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Campbelltown. It is part of the Macarthur region. History The name St Andrews came from an early 19th-century property owned by Scottish convict Andrew Thompson who in turn had named it after the patron saint of Scotland St Andrew. The area was used for cattle and dairy farming for the next 150 years or so. In 1957, the first plans were announced by the state government to create a large satellite city in the area but the idea foundered after locals opposed it because the land was such good farming land. Raby is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 55 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Campbelltown. Minto is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Minto is located 38 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Campbelltown and is part of the Macarthur region. History Minto was named in honour of the Earl of Minto, Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, who was Viceroy of India from 1807–1814. The name was originally given to the entire district stretching from just north of Appin up to what is now Denham Court.
