Electoral districts of Victoria are the electoral districts, commonly referred to as "seats" or "electorates", into which the Australian State of Victoria is divided for the purpose of electing members of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, one of the two houses of the Parliament of the State. The State is divided into 88 single-member districts. The Legislative Assembly has had 88 electorates since the 1985 election, increased from 81 previously. Electoral boundaries are redrawn from time to time, in a process called ''redivision''. The last redivision took place in 2021, when the Victorian Electoral Boundaries Commission reviewed Victoria's district boundaries. Ian Francis McLaren (30 March 1912 – 17 April 2000), M.A., Dip. Com., D. Litt., , F.R.H.S.V., was an Australian politician, accountant, businessman, historian, bibliographer and book-collector. Early life He was born at Launceston in Tasmania to draper Alexander Morrison McLaren and Elsie Elizabeth Gibbins. He attended Caulfield Grammar School and the University of Melbourne, becoming an accountant. In 1938 he embarked on a world tour, returning in 1939. He served in the Royal Australian Navy, from 1942 to 1945, and attained the rank of Lieutenant. Keith Robert McCance (28 November 1929 – 2 January 2008) was an Australian politician. He was born in Ascot Vale to schoolteacher Robert Norman McLeod McCance and Ivy Emily McGill. He was educated at Korumburra, Kew East and Box Hill before graduating from Wesley College in 1947. He worked in a variety of jobs and in 1946 joined the Kew branch of the Liberal Party. On 7 February 1953 he married Joy Myra Cullis; they had two children. McCance eventually became a share registrar, managing share companies from 1960 to 1979. In 1979 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Bennettswood, but he was defeated after a single term in 1982. Douglas Richard Newton (born 5 July 1950) is an Australian politician. He was born at Ivanhoe to clerk Cecil James Newton and Gwendaline Clare Bowden. He attended La Trobe University, where he received a Bachelor of Science, and later Hawthorn State College for a Diploma of Education. From 1973 to 1975 he worked as a research assistant in the Victorian Forest Commission's fire research section, moving to Melbourne University's Westernport Bay Environmental Study Group from 1975 to 1978. The Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), commonly known as Victorian Labor, is the semi-autonomous Victorian branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). The Victorian branch comprises two major wings: the parliamentary wing and the organisational wing. Roger Pescott (born 30 May 1946) is a former Australian diplomat and politician. He was born in Melbourne and graduated with a Master of Arts from the Australian National University in 1970. In 1971 he became a diplomat, with postings to New Delhi (1971–72), East Berlin (1975–76), Brussels (1976–79) and London (1979–80). He was also a member of the Australian delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 and a member of the 2nd NPT Review Conference in Geneva in 1980. The electorate is surrounded by the other electoral districts of Prahran, Albert Park, Malvern, Oakleigh, Bentleigh and Brighton.
