Arunachal Pradesh (, ) is a state in Northeastern India. It was formed from the erstwhile North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) region, and became a state on 20 February 1987. It borders the states of Assam and Nagaland to the south. It shares international borders with Bhutan in the west, Myanmar in the east, and a disputed border with China in the north at the McMahon Line. Itanagar is the state capital of Arunachal Pradesh. 2019 Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly elections were held in Arunachal Pradesh on April 11 to elect the 60 members of Legislative Assembly. The term of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly ends on June 1, 2019. This results in a landslide victory for Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies. Pema Khandu took oath as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister on 29 May 2019. Results By constituency Three-member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Phurpa Tsering from Dirang, Taba Tedir from Yachuli and Kento Jini from Along East were elected unopposed after others' candidature was rejected or the candidates withdrew themselves. Arunachal Congress
Arunachal Congress (AC) was a regional political party in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was founded in 1996 as a splinter group of Indian National Congress, when the local party leader and Chief Minister Gegong Apang revolted against the then Congress leader P.V. Narasimha Rao. History Apang took with him 54 members of the legislative assembly of a total of 60 of Arunachal Pradesh to his new party. In the Lok Sabha elections 1998 AC won both seats of Arunachal Pradesh. The party received 172 496 votes (52,47% of the votes in the state). AC allied itself with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was a founding member of the National Democratic Alliance.
