Eldoradoville
Eldoradoville was a gold mining town in Los Angeles County, located in the San Gabriel Mountains. Established in 1859, after gold had been discovered in the river in 1855, Eldoradoville at its peak population had three stores and six saloons. It was washed away on January 18, 1862, in the Great Flood of 1862. One historian described it as "the Downieville of the south—a rough and tough miner's town." San Gabriel River (California)
The San Gabriel River is a mostly urban waterway flowing southward through Los Angeles and Orange Counties, California in the United States. It is the central of three major rivers draining the Greater Los Angeles Area, the others being the Los Angeles River and Santa Ana River. Great Flood Of 1862
The Great Flood of 1862 was the largest flood in the recorded history of Oregon, Nevada, and California, occurring from December 1861 to January 1862. It was preceded by weeks of continuous rains and snows in the very high elevations that began in Oregon in November 1861 and continued into January 1862. This was followed by a record amount of rain from January 9–12, and contributed to a flood that extended from the Columbia River southward in western Oregon, and through California to San Diego, and extended as far inland as Idaho in the Washington Territory, Nevada and Utah in the Utah Territory, and Arizona in the western New Mexico Territory. East Fork Road
East Fork Road, located in the San Gabriel Mountains above the city of Azusa, California, is a road that gives access from State Route 39 into East Fork and other small townships, including Camp Williams, and Julius Klein Conservation Fire Camp 19, a minor offender prisoner housing complex where "LACO fire personnel provide training, which prepares inmates to safely conduct wild land firefighting operations." The road begins at Route 39, passing over the San Gabriel River, and follows the east fork of the river, crossing a number of small streams. Gold mining is the extraction of gold resources by mining. Historically, mining gold from alluvial deposits used manual separation processes, such as gold panning.
