Elbow Lake is a lake in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is located in the east-central part of the province at the terminus of Midnight Creek in the Porcupine Hills and Porcupine Provincial Forest. The lake is in the Woody River Block of Porcupine Hills Provincial Park and is situated in boreal forest surrounded by hills, other small lakes, and muskeg. The small community of Elbow Lake is located at the north-west corner and Highway 980 provides access to it and the lake. Description Prior to the formation of Porcupine Hills Provincial Park in 2018, the parkland around Elbow Lake was a provincial recreation site called Woody River Recreation Site. Immediately to the west of the lake is Stark Lake which is connected by at short stream. Elbow Lake Subdivision
The Elbow Lake Subdivision or Elbow Lake Sub is a railway line that runs about from Glenwood, Minnesota to Enderlin, North Dakota. The line is currently operated by Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) under its subsidiary, the Soo Line Railroad. The rail line began construction in 1887 and was a continuation of the Minneapolis and Pacific Railway line to the Dakotas that would supply grain to Twin Cities flour mills. The line begins in Glenwood and splits with the Detroit Lakes Subdivision before going through many small towns and reaching the junction with the Morris Subdivision near Nashua. Then the line continues westward into North Dakota meeting the Veblen Subdivision at Veblen Junction. At Hankinson, the route meets the DMVW Dakota Subdivision and turns north, eventually reaching the western terminus at Enderlin.
