El Misterio De Huracán RamÃrez
''El misterio de Huracán RamÃrez'' (''The Mystery of Hurricane Ramirez'') is a 1962 black-and-white Mexican ''luchador'' film directed and co-written by Joselito RodrÃguez. The film is a sequel to RodrÃguez's 1952 film ''Huracán RamÃrez'', with David Silva reprising his role as Fernando Torres. Other returning cast members include Tonina Jackson, Carmelita González, Titina Romay and Freddy Fernández. Pepe Romay joins the cast as Fernando's son Pancho, and Daniel GarcÃa makes his film début as Huracán RamÃrez, replacing Spanish-born wrestler Eduardo Bonada, who would make only a cameo appearance. Plot The film continues the story of Fernando Torres, now seemingly retired from lucha libre, having sold his former identity to a rival ''luchador''. Daniel GarcÃa Arteaga (April 9, 1926 – October 31, 2006), best known under the ring name Huracán RamÃrez (English: "Hurricane RamÃrez"), was a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'' (or masked professional wrestler) and actor. GarcÃa was neither the first, nor the last, wrestler to work under the name "Huracán RamÃrez". He was given the name in the mid-1950s, when the wrestler who originally played Huracán in the 1953 film ''Huracán RamÃrez'' decided to give up the role in the ring because he no longer wanted to obscure his face with the mask. Thus, GarcÃa became the second wrestler to wrestle in the ring under the Huracán identity. During his career, his true identity was a closely guarded secret except to his closest family and friends, more closely guarded that any other ''luchador'' of that period. Luchador films (or ''Lucha Libre films'') are Mexican professional wrestling/action/science-fiction/ horror films starring some of the most popular masked luchadores in Lucha Libre. The luchadores are portrayed as superheroes engaging in battles against a range of characters from spies, to vampires and Martians. These films were low-budget and produced quickly. Nearly all lucha films included fist-fighting and wrestling action sequences in and out of the ring which were choreographed and performed by the stars themselves without the aid of stunt doubles. A wrestling mask is a fabric-based mask that some professional wrestlers wear as part of their in-ring persona or gimmick. Professional wrestlers have been using masks as far back as 1915 and they are still widely used today, especially in Lucha Libre in Mexico. History At the 1865 World's Fair, Theobaud Bauer debuted the mask, wrestling as "The Masked Wrestler" in Paris, France. He continued wrestling using the mask throughout France as part of a circus troupe in the 1860s before moving on to the United States in the early 1870s. In 1915, Mort Henderson started wrestling as the "Masked Marvel" in the New York area making him the first North American wrestler to perform with such a gimmick. Huracán RamÃrez (English: "Hurricane RamÃrez") is a fictitious character, originally invented for the 1953 Mexican ''luchador'' film of the same name. After the movie opened in theaters, Huracán RamÃrez also became a professional wrestling character in the ring, primarily played by ''luchador'' Eduardo Bonada, who was soon after replaced in the mid-1950s by wrestler Daniel GarcÃa who wrestled under that name for more than thirty years. Lucha libre (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term used in Latin America for professional wrestling. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere. Freddy Fernández (actor)
Alfredo Jesús Fernández Sáenz (January 16, 1934 – May 10, 1995) was a Mexican film and television actor, nicknamed El Pichi. Fernández was born in Mexico City, the only son of Alfredo Fernández and Elisa Sáenz Rojas. As a youth, he joined the Children's Fine Arts Theatre Company of Fine Arts under the direction of Clementina Otero. The nickname "El Pichi" was given to Fernández by producer Luis Manrique during the making of the film '' Callejera'' in 1949. He received the Virginia Fábregas medal from National Association of Actors (ANDA) for his 25 year career and was nominated three times for an Ariel Award. His son is Alfredo Fernández ("El Pato"). He died on May 10, 1995, of esophageal cancer in Mexico City, aged 61. His remains were buried in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, his son's garden.
