El Protector (2012)
El Protector (2012) was the first annual El Protector professional wrestling event produced by the International Wrestling Revolution Group. It took place on January 12, 2012, at Arena Naucalpan in Naucalpan, State of Mexico. The 2012 ''El Protector'' was the first event produced under that name, but was a continuation of the ''Proyeccion a Nuevas Promesas'' ("Projecting a new promise") tournament of 2010 and 2011 . The focal point of the show was the ''El Protector'' tag team tournament where eight teams competed for the trophy. Production Background ''Lucha Libre'' has a tradition for a tournament where a rookie, or ''novato'', would be teamed up with an experienced veteran wrestler for a tag team tournament in the hopes of giving the ''Novato'' a chance to show case their talent and move up the ranks. International Wrestling Revolution Group
International Wrestling Revolution Group (Grupo Internacional Revolución in Spanish; the Spanish name is used for the promotion while the English initials are used for the title governing body) is a Lucha Libre promotion based in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, Mexico. Founded in 1996 by Adolfo Moreno and since Moreno's death in late 2007 has been controlled by his sons Alfredo and Marco Moreno. IWRG has its own championships but like many Mexican promotions recognize champions from other promotions, occasionally allowing them to defend those titles on IWRG shows. In recent times the company has become a more direct competitor to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion (AAA), acquiring a national television deal with TV Azteca and using a number of talent that have left CMLL or AAA to bolster their ranks and profile. Heel (professional Wrestling)
In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. "The role of a heel is to get 'heat,' which means spurring the crowd to obstreperous hatred, and generally involves cheating and pretty much any other manner of socially unacceptable behavior that will get the job done." Juan Francisco Domínguez (born September 8, 1977) is a Mexican ''luchador'' or professional wrestler, currently performing under the ring name X-Fly. He is also known as the original Mosco de la Merced ("Mosquito of the Mercy"), a name which has since been given another ''luchador''. Fuerza Guerrera Nueva Generación (sometimes "Fuerza Guerrera NG") is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG). He worked under the ring name Imposible from his debut in 2008 until late in 2019 when he took the name "Fuerza Guerra Nueva Generación". He is not related to Fuerza Guerrera, but is officially allowed to use the name by his trainer. His real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. Esteban Mares Castañeda (born September 3, 1952) is a Mexican ''luchador'', or professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Black Terry. Wrestling since 1973, he was once part of a group called ''Los Temerarios'' alongside Jose Luis Feliciano and Shu El Guerrero. Negro Navarro (born June 12, 1957) is the ring name of Miguel Calderón Navarro, a Mexican ''luchador'', or professional wrestler.
