''The Joe, the leyend'' (Spanish: ''El Joe, la leyenda'') is a 119-episode Colombian television biopic. It is inspired by the life and works of singer Joe Arroyo. Jair Romero starred as Joe Arroyo. Mauro Castillo and Estefanía Borges also starred as Wilson Manyoma and Jacqueline Ramón, respectively. Produced by Guillermo Restrepo, the TV show was a RCN Televisión production. It was originally broadcast from 30 May to 20 December 2011. Positively reviewed in Colombia, ''El Joe, la leyenda'' was honored with the Premios India Catalina award for best soap opera. Plot Joe Arroyo started his singing career in the 1970s, with local performances in the Colombian Caribbean region. Musician Julio Estrada (aka Fruko) discovered Arroyo's talent during Barranquilla's Carnival and asked him to be a part of the Fruko y sus Tesos band. Diego Vásquez
Diego Martín Vásquez Castro (born 3 July 1971) is a football coach and former player who is currently the manager of the Honduras national team. Club career Nicknamed ''Barbie'', Vásquez played most of his career in Honduras as a goalkeeper, most notably for F.C. Motagua where he conquered several titles and individual awards. He began his career playing for his hometown club San Martín de Mendoza. His debut for Motagua occurred on 24 August 1997, where he saved two penalty kicks in the 1–0 victory over C.D.S. Vida. According to Diego, his most memorable event as a player took place in the final series of the 1999–2000 Honduran Liga Nacional season against Club Deportivo Olimpia where after a 0–0 global score, the title had to be decided by penalty shoot-outs in which Vásquez saved the decisive kick to give Motagua its 8th national championship. Palacio was one of the backup singers for the vallenato group Binomio de Oro de America who joined in 2004 after many singers passed through the musical group.
