El Camino Real (album)
''El Camino Real'' is the fifth studio album by Argentine band Todos Tus Muertos released in 1998. It is also Fidel Nadal's final full-length album with the band, preceding the announcement of the Todos Tus Muertos break-up in 2000. It was first TTM album distributed in Japan by Universal Music Group, and published by Polydor label. Background It's considered the last chapter from Todos Tus Muertos first era. El Camino Real was recorded and produced at Panda Studios during largely 1997, by the band with Fernando Bocha Gutiérrez, the making of the album was an arduous process, largely because Fidel Nadal and Pablo Molina row began to convert to Rastafari during these sessions, and refused to perform punk rock music. Nadal was keenly aware of new styles and wanted to keep the current and experimental music like rap, hip hop, while Gamexane and Félix was seemingly more focused on the band's punk rock and reggae roots. Fidel Nadal (; born Fidel Ernesto Nadal on October 4, 1965) is an Afro-Argentinian Reggae musician, songwriter and pioneer of Argentine Reggae and the underground punk/hardcore movement of Argentina. Life and work Nadal was born into an academic family in Buenos Aires, his mother was an anthropologist and visual artist and his father, Enrique Nadal, a film director and a leading fighter for the recognition of the rights of black Argentines. According to his own recollection, he was heavily influenced by the music listened to by his parents, mainly blues and jazz. His ideology involves deep Rastafarian culture from countries like Jamaica and Haiti; one of his inspirations, as with many reggae groups, is Bob Marley. His main influences are related to reggae rhythms and Afro-Argentine culture. Nadal is descendant of Angolan slaves brought to Buenos Aires in the 17th century. Horacio "Gamexane" Villafañe (20 October 1963 – 22 November 2011) was an Argentine musician, singer and songwriter, and one of the original members of the rock band Todos Tus Muertos. ''Rolling Stone'' magazine ranked him 92nd on its list of "100 Best Argentine Guitarists". Biography Villafañe was born in San Isidro, province of Buenos Aires, in October 1963. From a middle-class family, Villafañe grew up in San Bernardo, where interested by the music, listening bands like The Clash, the Sex Pistols and Wire. Todos Tus Muertos (''All Your Dead'', in English) is a rasta-punk band from Argentina formed in Buenos Aires, in 1985. The longtime line-up comprised by a young vocalist Fidel Nadal, Horacio "Gamexane" Villafañe on guitar, Felix Gutiérrez on bass, and drummer Pablo Potenzoni.
