''Ekti Raat'' ( ''One Night'') is a 1956 Indian Bengali-language comedy film directed by Chitta Basu and produced by Harendranath Chattopadhyay based on, ''Bhimpalashree'', a story of Bengali novelist Balai Chand Mukhopadhyay. Film starring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen in lead role with Tulsi Chakraborty and Bhanu Banerjee. This film was released on 26 April 1956 in the banner of H.N.C. Productions. In the 1990s, a television series ''Manush'', based on the same plot, aired. This film become successful at the box office. Plot This film revolves around the miscommunication and misunderstanding of two couples and their family leading to comic situations. Sushavan Dutta and his wife, Anita, were invited at their relative Digbijay Babu's house. While on a journey Anita misses the train and Sushavan has to journey with another lady Santana. Chitta Basu (director)
Chitta Bose (1907–1993), born as Chittaranjan Bose and also known as Chitta Basu was an Indian film director. He is one of the renowned film directors of West Bengal during the 1960s. He was born on 26 November 1907 in a middle-class family in the Khulna District of present-day Bangladesh. Education Though born in Khulna Dist.,Bangladesh, he left Bangladesh at an early age and came to Kolkata. He passed the intermediate exam from Bangabasi College and thereafter completed graduation from St. Xavier's College, Calcutta, St. Xaviers college, Kolkata. Pahari Sanyal (22 February 1906 – 10 February 1974) was an Indian actor and singer who is known for his work in Bengali cinema. Sanyal acted in many Bengali films, such as ''Harano Sur'', ''Bhanu Goenda Jahar Assistant'', and ''Shilpi''. Besides being a character actor, Sanyal gave a lead performance in his portrayal of Bengali reformer Vidyasagar and of the poet, playwright/dramatist and actor Girishchandra Ghosh in "Mahakabi Girishchandra". Sandhya Mukherjee
Geetashree Sandhya Mukherjee (also spelled Mukhopadhyay; 4 October 1931 – 15 February 2022) was an Indian playback singer and musician, specialising in Bengali music. She received Banga Bibhushan, the highest civilian honour of the Indian state of West Bengal in 2011. She also won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her songs in the films ''Jay Jayanti'' and '' Nishi Padma'' in the year 1970. Early and personal life Mukherjee was born in Dhakuria, Calcutta, on 4 October 1931 to Narendranath Mukherjee, a railway official, and Hemprova Devi. She was the youngest of six children. Gurudas Banerjee, also known as Gurudas Bandyopadhyay, is a Bengali stage and film actor who was active from the 1940s through the 1980s.
