Eklipse Sports Radio
Eklipse Sports Radio was a Scottish-owned independent local radio station. It was based in Kinning Park on the Southside of Glasgow and broadcast to Fife, and Central Scotland. All programming was produced in Glasgow. The station ceased broadcasting on 29 February 2016 after the owners withdrew their financial support. History The station was mooted in the Summer of 2013 when capacity became available on the Central Scotland multiplex and a five-year transmission contract was signed with Switch Scotland. The station's OFCOM broadcast licence was granted in July 2013 with a licensed format of sports news, talk and Classic rock music to a potential 2.7 million adults in the station's TSA. The company raised £40,000 in capital under the UK government's Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, although launch was delayed by the sudden death of a major investor in November 2013. Radio Joint Audience Research Limited (RAJAR) was established in 1992 to operate a single audience measurement system for the radio industry in the United Kingdom. RAJAR is jointly owned by the BBC and RadioCentre. RAJAR's predecessor was called Joint Industry Committee on Radio Audience Research (JICRAR). Prior to this, the BBC and RadioCentre's predecessor CRCA carried out their own measurements independently of each other. Hugh Burns (born 13 December 1965) is a Scottish former professional football player who is best known for his time with Rangers and Kilmarnock. Club career Burns began his career with Cambuslang Rangers before joining Rangers. Whilst at Ibrox he made over fifty appearances in the league and played both legs in a UEFA Cup game against CA Osasuna in 1985. He signed for Hamilton Academical on loan the following season then moved on to Heart of Midlothian in 1987. He had spells at Dunfermline Athletic, Fulham (at that time in the third tier in England) and second spell with Hamilton Academical. In 1991, he joined Kilmarnock and made over forty appearances, then switched to Ayrshire rivals Ayr United.
