''Ekakini'' is a 1978 Indian Malayalam film, directed and produced by G. S. Panicker. The film stars Shobha, Indra Balan and Ravi Menon in the lead roles. The film is an adaptation of the short story "Karutha Chandran" by M. T. Vasudevan Nair. It was the debut of G. S. Panicker. Noted painter C. N. Shobha
Mahalakshmi Menon, best known by her stagename Shobha (23 September 1962 – 1 May 1980), was an Indian actress best known for her work in Malayalam and Tamil films. At the age of 17, she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the 1979 Tamil film ''Pasi''. She also received three Kerala State Film Awards: for Best Actress (1978), Best Supporting Actress (1977) and Best Child Artist (1971); and two Filmfare Awards South for Best Actress in Kannada (1978) and Tamil (1979) films. Considered one of the finest talents to have emerged in the Indian film world, her promising career was unexpectedly cut short as she committed suicide in 1980, due to unknown reasons. Her popularity resulted in considerable public scrutiny of the events that led to her death and also various conspiracy theories. Chalappurathu Raveendranatha Menon (1950 – 24 November 2007), popularly known as Ravi Menon was a veteran Indian film actor who worked in Malayalam cinema. He was born in Sreekrishnapuram, Palakkad in 1950. He completed diploma from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and made his debut in Malayalam movie, ''Nirmalyam''. Ravi Menon also got the state government special jury award for his role in 'Nirmalayam'. His first movie was Mani Kaul's '' Duvidha for which he was nominated for the national best actor award . His notable movies includes ''Shalini Ente Koottukari, Shyama, Kilukkam, Minnaram''. He acted in more than 50 Malayalam movies. He hailed from Karimpuzha in Palakkad district. He died in Perinthalmanna, Kerala on 24 November 2007. He was 57. He was suffering from cancer for long time in his last days. He was a bachelor. Ramachandra Babu
K. Ramachandra Babu (15 December 1947 – 21 December 2019) was an Indian cinematographer of over 125 films, out of which most are Malayalam films. He also worked for films in Tamil language, Tamil, Telugu language, Telugu, Hindi, Arabic and English language, English languages. He served as the cinematographer for several documentaries and advertisement films as well. He was the founder of the Indian cinematographers, Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC). Early life and career Ramachandra Babu was born on 15 December 1947 in Maduranthakam at Chengalpattu, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, as the eldest son of Malayali parents, Kunjan Pillai and Padmini Amma, both from Alleppey Kerala.
