Eje Vial
The system of Ejes viales (singular: ''eje vial'', lit. "road axis") in Mexico City is a large network of wide arterial roads with coordinated traffic signals. They are mainly directed in one-way with a single lane going in the opposite direction used exclusively by public transportation. The network was a project of Mexico City mayor Carlos Hank González and the first part of the network, after extensive construction and demolition of buildings and removal of trees, opened in 1979. With the exception of the ''Eje Central'', a south-to-north ''eje'' passing through the Historic center of Mexico City, the ''ejes'' are numbered with cardinal directions, for example going north from the center: Eje 1 Norte, then Eje 2 Norte, and so forth. In addition to the Eje number and directional, the streets retain their individual names, with one ''eje'' thus consisting of multiple sequential individually named streets. Avenida Revolución (Spanish for "Revolution Avenue") is the tourist center in Tijuana, Baja California, México. It is a main thoroughfare of the historic downtown of Tijuana, officially called the '' Zona Centro'', which forms part of the ''Delegación Centro'' or Central Borough of Tijuana. History Avenida Revolución was the first road in Tijuana to be paved, near the beginning of the twentieth century. Xochimilco (; nci, Xōchimīlco, ) is a borough (''demarcación territorial'') of Mexico City. The borough is centered on the formerly independent city of Xochimilco, which was established on what was the southern shore of Lake Xochimilco in the precolonial period. Ecatepec (), officially Ecatepec de Morelos, is a municipality in the central Mexican state of Mexico, and is situated in the north part of the greater Mexico City urban area. The municipal seat is San Cristóbal Ecatepec. The city of Ecatepec is practically co-extensive with the municipality, comprising 99% of the total municipal population of 1,645,352. It is Mexico's fourth most-populous municipality after Tijuana, León and Puebla, and the most populated suburb of Greater Mexico City.
