Eisenbahn-Kurier
''Eisenbahn Kurier'' (German language, German for ''Railway Courier''), or EK, is a monthly magazine published in Freiburg im Breisgau, Freiburg, Germany, whose focus is on Rail transport, railway and Rail transport modelling, model railway themes. Its target audience is railway modellers and model railway fans, as well as railway experts and employees. With a monthly print run of about 40,000 copies, EK is one of the biggest railway magazines in Germany. The magazine is produced by its own publisher, EK Verlag, which is registered in the Freiburg Trade Register. Its manager is Dierk Lawrenz, Handeloh. History ''Eisenbahn Kurier'' was founded in 1966 in Wuppertal by a small group of railway fans, which included the famous locomotive photographer Carl Bellingrodt. Carl Bellingrodt
Carl Bellingrodt (1897–1971) was one of the best-known German railway photographers of the 20th century and co-founder of the Federal Association of German Railway Friends () or BDEF. He worked professionally as a police officer, later switching to financial management. Life and works as a photographer Bellingrodt was born on 7 April 1897 in Cologne, but began taking photographs even before the First World War. His first surviving photograph was of the German emperor, Kaiser Wilhelm II, German Emperor, Wilhelm II Very soon he specialised in landscape photography and especially railway photography. In the course of his work he took more than 30,000 photographs of locomotives and trains. His collection suffered heavy losses as the result of a fire and a water pipe leak. DRG Class 24
The DRG Class 24 steam engines were German standard locomotives ('' Einheitslokomotiven'') built for the Deutsche Reichsbahn between 1928 and 1939 to haul passenger trains. History These engines, nickname the 'prairie horse' (''Steppenpferd'') were developed specially for the long, flat routes in West and East Prussia. 95 examples were built by the firms of Schichau, Linke-Hofmann and others. The two units with operating numbers 24 069 and 24 070 were supplied by Borsig with a medium pressure boiler. These locos ran with a boiler overpressure of , but were rebuilt in 1952. The Deutsche Bundesbahn took over 38 locomotives and retired them by 1966. The last one with the DB was locomotive number 24 067, which was stabled in Rheydt and taken out of service there in August 1966. The engines were given operating numbers 24 001 to 24 095. Tram
A tram (called a streetcar or trolley in North America) is a rail vehicle that travels on tramway tracks on public urban streets; some include segments on segregated right-of-way.
