''A Night in May'' (german: Eine Nacht im Mai) is a 1938 Cinema of Germany, German comedy film directed by Georg Jacoby and starring Marika Rökk, Viktor Staal, and Karl Schönböck. It was made by Universum Film AG, UFA the leading German company at the Babelsberg Studios in Berlin. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Erich Grave and Max Mellin. Ludwig Schmitz
Ludwig Schmitz (January 28, 1884 – June 28, 1954) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than forty films during his career including the 1951 comedy '' The Heath Is Green''. He was part of the popular comedy duo Tran and Helle along with Joseph Hussels. Schmitz was a member of the SS from 1 March 1934 and a member of the Nazi Party from May 1937, however he was barred from the German film industry from 1941 "due to unworthy behavior". It was only in the 1950s that the popular comedian was seen again in the West German cinema. He died of a heart attack in 1954. Mady Rahl
Mady Rahl (3 January 1915 – 29 August 2009) was a German stage and film actress. Born Edith Gertrud Meta Raschke in Neukölln, now part of Berlin, Rahl trained as an actress and dancer. In 1935 she made her stage debut in Leipzig under the direction of Douglas Sirk and started her film career in 1936 with the movie ''The Mysterious Mister X''. With her role in the circus drama ''Truxa'' ( 1937), Rahl became known to a wider audience. After the war, she sang with her friend Elfreide Datzig for the USO. She ultimately appeared in approximately 90 movies, several of them for UFA. In later years, she appeared frequently on television, while also pursuing her career in the theatre. She was also the German voice of many cartoon characters and of Lucille Ball. Rahl's first marriage was to financier Theodor Reimers, her second was to producer Wilhem Sperber, and her third was to architect Werner Bürkle. Ingeborg von Kusserow (28 January 1919 – 14 April 2014) was a German film actress. Biography Kusserow was born in Wollstein, Province of Posen, Germany (today Wolsztyn, Poland). She starred in Nazi propaganda films during the Third Reich, which she wrote about in a 1949 memoir ''I Was Hitler's Mickey Mouse''. Kusserow married Percy Graf Welsburg in November 1941; they hoped to get away to Switzerland and Italy but in fact had to remain in Berlin throughout the war, which she describes in a 1948 memoir ''Enough, no More''. They finally emigrated to Britain in 1947 and lived in St John's Wood, London and she restarted her acting career, usually appearing as Ingeborg Wells. Kusserow retired in 1960 and divorced Welsburg, but married again in 1968 to Kenneth Slingsby-Fahn (1913–2007), a retired RAF officer. Albert Peter Adam Florath (7 December 1888, Bielefeld – 11 March 1957, Gaildorf) was a German stage and film actor. Early life and education Born to Joseph Florath, a locksmith, and his wife Matilda, née Burkart, he attended school in Brakel and the Realgymnasium in Paderborn. He was bailiff candidate in Delbrück, where he was active in the welfare, church and school department and the police administration. Acting career Florath gained first stage experience in amateur dramatic groups of local clubs in Delbrück. Oskar Sima
Oskar Sima (31 July 1896 – 24 June 1969) was an Austrian actor who is best remembered for appearing in supporting roles in countless comedy films from the 1930s to the 1960s. Born in Hohenau an der March, Lower Austria, Sima attended high school in Vienna. After a brief tour in the army during World War I, he began acting in various theatrical productions in Berlin, Vienna, and other cities in Central Europe. He began his film career in 1921, and appeared in a number of German silent films early on. Sima was frequently cast as the comic villain whose machinations get everyone into trouble, although often his villainous stature was used to more chilling effect. In 1929, Sima married actress Lina Woiwode. The couple remained married until Sima's death. Along with Friedl Czepa, Fred Hennings and Leni Riefenstahl he was identified as being an active supporter of the Nazi Party.
