Eindhovense Mixed Hockey Club
The Eindhovense Mixed Hockey Club (acronym: EMHC) was a Dutch field hockey club, which was located in Eindhoven, North Brabant. The club was founded on October 14, 1921, and had about 1,000 members. This made it the second biggest club of the city, after neighbouring Oranje Zwart. In 2016, the club merged with Oranje Zwart. The name of the new club is HC Oranje-Rood. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. Women's Hoofdklasse Hockey
The Women's Hoofdklasse Hockey is the women's top division of Field hockey in the Netherlands. The league ranks first in the European league ranking table. The league was established in 1981 and before the league existed the champions of the several districts played in a championship pool to determine the national champion. Amsterdam are the current champions, having won the 2018–19 season by defeating Den Bosch in the championship final. Amsterdam won 20 titles, followed by Den Bosch with 19 and HOC with 14 titles. Det De Beus
Anna Maria Bernadette "Det" de Beus (18 February 1958 – 21 July 2013) in the Netherlands. Born in Utrecht, she was the first goalkeeper in women's field hockey to wear a mask. A player from Eindhovense Mixed Hockey Club in Eindhoven, De Beus played in goal for the Netherlands between 1978 and 1988. She played 105 caps for her country and was part of the gold medal winning Olympic team in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She retired from the sport at the end of Olympic Games in Seoul in September 1988 after winning the bronze medal by beating Great Britain 3–1. Josephine Francisca Maria "Fieke" Boekhorst-Van Griensven (born 18 December 1957) is a retired Netherlands, Dutch field hockey player. She won an Olympic gold medal and a European title in 1984, and world titles in 1978 and 1983, but never became a national champion. During her career she played 90 international matches for the Netherlands, in which she scored 106 goals. The defender made her debut for the Dutch on 16 September 1978 in a match against India, and quickly became known for her powerful shots. She retired while preparing for the 1986 World Cup, due to a knee injury sustained during a hockey match, and later worked as a field hockey coach.
