Eileen Quinlan
Eileen Quinlan (born 1972 in Boston, Massachusetts) is a self-described still-life photographer who shoots with Medium format (film), medium format and Large format (photography), large format cameras. An art critic for ''Art in America'' likened her style to that of Moholy-Nagy and James Welling. Early life and education Quinlan received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1996 from the School of The Museum of Fine Arts, Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. She received her Master of Fine Arts in 2005 from Columbia University. Eileen did street photography, portrait photography, and landscape photography before getting into the photographic style she is in now. After graduating she learned that she no longer wanted to take pictures out in the world but wanted to construct photography in the studio. Still, she was unsure of what the subject would be. The Kunsthalle Bern is a ''Kunsthalle'' (art exposition hall) on the Helvetiaplatz in Bern, Switzerland. It was built in 1917–1918 by the Kunsthalle Bern Association and opened on October 5, 1918. Since then, it has been the site of numerous expositions of contemporary art. The International Center of Photography (ICP), at 79 Essex Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City, consists of a museum for photography and visual culture and a school offering an array of educational courses and programming. Op Art
Op art, short for optical art, is a style of visual art that uses optical illusions. Op artworks are abstract, with many better-known pieces created in black and white. Typically, they give the viewer the impression of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrating patterns, or swelling or warping. History The antecedents of op art, in terms of graphic and color effects, can be traced back to Neo-impressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Constructivism and Dada. The Pictures Generation
''The Pictures Generation, 1974–1984'' was an exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in New York City that ran from April 29 – August 2, 2009. The exhibition took its name from ''Pictures'', a 1977 group show organized by art historian and critic Douglas Crimp (1944–2019) at New York City's Artists Space gallery.
