Eid Mubarak (film)
''Eid Mubarak'' is a 1965 Pakistani film, directed by S. M. Yusuf who also wrote the screenplay for the film story written by Fayyaz Hashmi. It features Waheed Murad, Zeba, Habib and Rukhsana in leading roles. The film had songs performed by Mala, Ahmed Rushdi and Munir Hussain and a Naat (by Mala) in the music composition of A. Hameed. The film performed well at the box office and was a silver jublee hit. It won Nigar Award 1965 for Best sound editing. Plot The plot revolves around the Eid festival and mutual love, brotherhood and mutual respect among the characters of a family after mutual suspicions. The story revolves around a household where an elder brother lives with his younger siblings (a sister and a brother) as their parents have died. Fayyaz Hashmi
Fayyaz Hashmi ( ur, ; 1920 2011) was a Pakistani poet and screenwriter who worked both in the Cinema of India, Indian and Cinema of Pakistan, Pakistani film industry. He penned some memorable songs such as the famous nazm Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo and ''Tasveer teri dil mera behela nah sakegi''. The latter made the singer Talat Mahmood famous in India back in 1944 and was instrumental in introducing him to the Calcutta film industry. A little known fact about him is that he wrote the famous 'Na tum mere na dil mera', that was sung by Kamla Jharia, among many others. One of the couplets from this ghazal became popular that reads: 'aye bas naadaniyon par apni naaz karte hain, abhi dekhi kahan hain aapne naadaniyan meri' and then "Yeh Raatein, Yeh Mausam, Yeh Hansana Hansaana, Mujhe Bhool Jana, Inhein Na Bhulana" sung by Pankaj Mullick (a non-film song). The Nigar Awards ( ur, , translit=Inʿām Negār, lit=Picture Awards) were presented in an annual award show to recognize outstanding achievement in Pakistani cinema. The honors are awarded by Nigar Magazine founded in 1948. The Nigar Awards are Pakistan's version of the Academy Awards. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists. The first Nigar Awards ceremony was held in 1957, to honor the accomplishments of Pakistani cinema for the year 1956. Adeeb
Muzaffar Adeeb (1934 – 26 May 2006), known mononymously as Adeeb, was a Pakistani film actor. He appeared in 38 Indian films from 1940 to 1962, although he did not start performing in films very actively until the 1950s. In 1962, he shifted from Bombay (now Mumbai), India, to Lahore, Pakistan and resumed his film career that lasted until his death with over 500 films to his credit. Early life and career He was born in Bombay in a conservative Pakhtun (Pathan) family from Kashmir. His family moved on to Bombay before independence of Pakistan in 1947 and that is where the actor in him emerged, after the completion of his Master's Degree in Urdu literature from Bombay University, Maharashtra. Nirala, real name Syed Muzaffar Husain Zaidi ( ur, ) (8 August 1937 – 9 December 1990) was a Pakistani comedian and film actor. He only appeared in Urdu films made in Pakistan. His first film was ''Aur bhi gham hain'' (1960). His last film was ''Choroan Ka Badshah'', which was released in 1988. His most successful film was Armaan in 1966, in which he played a supporting role with Waheed Murad. Early life and acting career He was born in Uttar Pradesh on 8 August 1937. Eid-ul-Azha
Eid al-Adha () is the second and the larger of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam (the other being Eid al-Fitr). It honours the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to Allah's command. Before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, however, Allah provided him with a lamb which he was supposed to kill in his son's place because of his willingness to sacrifice his own son in the name of God. In commemoration of this intervention, animals are ritually sacrificed. Part of their meat is consumed by the family which offers the animal, while the rest of the meat is distributed to the poor and the needy. Sweets and gifts are given, and extended family members are typically visited and welcomed. The day is also sometimes called the Greater Eid.
