Ehrenfeld is a borough in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 228 at the 2010 census. Geography Ehrenfeld is located in south-central Cambria County at (40.372273, -78.776394), in the valley of the Little Conemaugh River. It is bordered to the east by the borough of Summerhill and to the southwest by the borough of South Fork. U.S. Route 219 passes through the eastern part of Ehrenfeld, with access from one exit (Pennsylvania Route 53). US 219 leads north to Ebensburg, the county seat, and southwest to Somerset. Johnstown, the largest city in Cambria County, is to the southwest via US 219 and Pennsylvania Route 56. Ehrenfeld ( ; ) is a borough (''Stadtbezirk'') of the City of Cologne in Germany. It includes the seven quarters Bickendorf, Bocklemünd, Mengenich, Ehrenfeld, Neuehrenfeld, Ossendorf and Vogelsang. It has about 109,500 inhabitants (as of December 2020) and covers an area of 23.98 square kilometres. The Ehrenfeld Group (german: Ehrenfelder Gruppe, ; sometimes called the Steinbrück Group, german: Steinbrück-Gruppe, ) was an anti- Nazi resistance group, active in the summer and autumn of 1944. The group, which consisted of over one hundred people, centered on Hans Steinbrück, an escaped concentration camp prisoner. Its members included young people, including teens active in the local Edelweiss Pirates group, escaped detainees from forced labor camps, and Jews. On 10 November 1944, thirteen members of the group were publicly hanged in Cologne. Background Largely destroyed by Allied bombings, the district of Ehrenfeld, Cologne was a sanctuary for enemies of the Nazi regime, including escaped prisoners, forced laborers, deserters, and Jews.
