Egyptian Women's Premier League
The Egyptian Women's Premier League ( ar, الدوري المصري الممتاز للسيدات) is the top flight of women's association football in Egypt. The competition is run by the Egyptian Football Association. History The championship was created in 1998. Maaden LFC won the first championship as well as the next three. The competition was stopped from 2003 to 2007. The championship was dominated after by Wadi Degla with ten consecutive titles from 2008 to 2018. The championship will be abandoned during the 2010–2011 season due to the Egyptian revolution of 2011 but returned one season after. The CAF Women's Champions League (french: Ligue des Champions Féminine de la CAF; ar, دوري أبطال إفريقيا للسيدات), sometimes abbreviated as ''CAF WCL'', is an annual international women's association football club competition in Africa organized by the Confederation of African Football, involving the continent's top women's club teams. Wadi Degla Sporting Club (Women) ( ar, نادي وادي دجلة الرياضي) is an Egyptian women's football club based in Cairo. The Egyptian Football Association ( ar, الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم) is the governing body of football in Egypt. A member of FIFA since 1923 and a founding member of CAF, the EFA has jurisdiction for the Egyptian football league system and is in charge of the men's and women's national teams. The EFA headquarters is located in Gezira, Cairo. The 2011 Egyptian revolution, also known as the 25 January revolution ( ar, ثورة ٢٥ يناير; ), began on 25 January 2011 and spread across Egypt. The date was set by various youth groups to coincide with the annual Egyptian "Police holiday" as a statement against increasing police brutality during the last few years of Hosni Mubarak's presidency.
