Egyptian Basketball Federation
The Egyptian Basketball Federation is the governing body of the sport of basketball in Egypt. It joined International Basketball Federation FIBA in 1934. History It was founded in 1934, and was a member of FIBA Europe, as the FIBA Africa zone was not founded until 1961. Offices The Egyptian Basketball Federation offices are located in Cairo. Men's teams The Egyptian Basketball Federation originally focused on the men's Egyptian national basketball team, with their achievements including 9th place at the 1952 Summer Olympics, as well as its 5th place at the 1950 FIBA World Championship. At the FIBA Africa Championships, Egypt holds a records number of 16 medals. Egypt's men's team participated in the Summer Olympic Games seven times. In 1984 and 1988, Egypt came in the 12th on both occasions. FIBA 3x3 World Cup
The FIBA 3x3 World Cup is a 3x3 basketball tournament for national teams organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The debut of the tournament then named as the FIBA 3x3 World Championship was held in August 2012 in Athens, Greece. The current champions are Serbia in the men's division and France in the women's division. There are two events in the tournament; one for men and another for women. In the first edition, there was a mixed event where each team was composed of 2 men and 2 women. The 2012 FIBA 3x3 World Championships, hosted by Greece, was the first edition of the FIBA 3x3 World Championships, an international 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's, women's and mixed national teams. The tournament ran from 23 August to 26 August 2012, held in front of the Zappeion. It was co-organized by the FIBA. Serbia won the men's title after defeating France 16–13 in the men's final. The US won the women's title after defeating France in the final, while France defeated Argentina for the mixed team final. The 2014 FIBA 3x3 World Championships, hosted by Russia, was an international 3x3 basketball event that feature separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament was run from 5 June to 8 June 2014 in Moscow. It is co-organized by the FIBA. Qatar won their first title after defeating the defending champions Serbia 18–13 in the men's final. In the women's it was the defending champions USA that defeated Russia 15-8. 2016 FIBA 3x3 World Championships
The 2016 FIBA 3x3 World Championships, hosted by China, was an international 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament was run between 11 and 15 October 2016, in Guangzhou outside the Tianhe Sport Complex. It was co-organized by the FIBA. Host selection On May 10, 2015, FIBA announced the Guangzhou as host city of the 2016 tournament.
