Nathan Eglington
Nathan Eglington Order of Australia, OAM (born 2 December 1980 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales) is a field hockey midfielder and striker from Australia, who was a member of the team that won the golden medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He is nicknamed ''Eggy'', and played domestic hockey for the Queensland Blades in his native country Australia, with whom he won the national title in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. Eglington made his international debut in 2002, in a test series game against South Korea in Adelaide, scoring twice. Eglington played 140 times for Australia scoring 50 goals before major injury prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, forced retirement from international competition at the age of 27 years. He is married to fellow former Australia men's national field hockey team, Australian representative, Lisa Eglington. The pair live in Tweed Heads with their two children. Richard "Sam" Eglington (1 April 1908 – 20 March 1979) was an English cricketer. Eglington was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Esher, Surrey, and was educated at Sherborne School. Eglington first represented the Surrey Second XI in the 1927 Minor Counties Championship, making two appearances against the Kent Second XI and Buckinghamshire. Tommy Eglington
Thomas Joseph Eglington (15 January 1923 – 18 February 2004) was an Irish footballer who played as an outside-left for, among others, Shamrock Rovers, Everton and Tranmere Rovers. Eglington was also a dual internationalist and played for both Ireland teams – the FAI XI and the IFA XI. Eglington's playing career followed a similar path to that of Peter Farrell. As well as teaming up at international level, they also played together at three clubs. Eglington was best known as a creator of chances, for his acceleration down the wing and for his ability to deliver a precise pass at speed. He also possessed a powerful shot. He remains one of Everton's all-time top goalscorers and has played more games in the Second Division than any other Everton player. Eglington Margaret Pearson
Eglington Margaret Pearson (''née'' Paterson; baptised 5 November 1746 – 14 February 1823) was an English stained glass painter. Biography Pearson was the daughter of Samuel Paterson, a noted London bookseller. Her mother, whose maiden name was Hamilton, was the niece of the Countess of Eglingon (previously spelt Eglington). Her father also dealt in antique stained glass, and is reported in the 1764 edition of Dossie's ''Handmaid to the Arts'' as having set up his own stained glass factory. She married James Pearson, also a glass painter at St Martin's in the Fields, London, in 1768. Pearson and her husband came to public attention through works shown at the Society of Artists of Great Britain in its exhibitions in 1775-77. The works she showed there were mostly depictions of birds, especially parrots and parakeets. Most of her output consisted of works on a single sheet of glass. John Eglington Bailey
John Eglington Bailey (1840–1888) was an English antiquary, Secretary of the Chetham Society and Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. Life Born at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on 13 February 1840, he was the son of Charles Bailey, by his wife Mary Elizabeth, daughter of John Eglington of Ashbourne. His parents removed during his childhood to Lancashire. Educated at Warrington Grammar School, he entered in his teens the counting-house of Ralli Brothers in Manchester, and continued there till 1886. He completed his education by attending evening classes at Owens College, Manchester, learned Pitman's shorthand, and contributed articles to short-hand manuscript or lithographed magazines. He interested himself in Thomas Fuller, delivered a lecture on him to the Manchester Phonographic Union, which was printed in Henry Pitman's ''Popular Lecturer'', and devoted his holidays to visiting Fuller's various places of residence.
