Egide Linnig or Egidius Linnig (25 August 1821 – 13 October 1860) was a Belgian painter, draughtsman and engraver who is best known for his marine art and occasional genre scenes. He was one of the first realist engravers in Belgium.N. Égide Rombaux
Égide Rombaux (19 January 1865 – 11 September 1942) was a Belgian symbolist sculptor. Rombeaux was born in Schaerbeek on 19 January 1865. the son of the sculptor Felix Rombaux and Emerence–Rosalie Lemmens. He studies at the Academie des Beaux Arts in Brussels from 1879 while simultaneously working as an assistant to Albert Desenfans. He received his first commission in 1887; sculptures of Antoine van der Noot and Antoine van Grimbergen for Brussels Town Hall. He worked in Florence from 1889 to 1992. He returned to Brussels in 1895, and taught at the academies in Antwerp and Brussels. Rombaux died in Uccle on 11 September 1942. Egide Walschaerts
Egide Walschaerts (21 January 1820 Р18 February 1901) was a Belgian mechanical engineer, best known as the inventor of the Walschaerts valve gear used in steam locomotives. He was born in Mechelen, Belgium. In 1838 he was recognised as an excellent modeller, presenting his work at a local exhibition in Mechelen. Minister Rogier, who opened the exhibition, was so impressed that he arranged a place for Walschaerts at Li̬ge University. Career In 1842 he joined the Belgian State Railways and two years later had reached the rank of foreman. He was made chief superintendent of the works shortly after but mysteriously, for such a meteoric early career, never rose any higher. He held this position for the rest of his life, first at Mechelen and then at Brussels South. Egide Nzojibwami
Egide Nzojibwami is a geologist and academic who was the first Burundian national to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Nzojibwami was educated at the University of Liège in Liège, Belgium, and he and his wife were baptised into the LDS Church there on 14 April 1985. He returned to Burundi and eventually became dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Burundi. Nzojibwami holds a PhD in geology from the University of Liège, Belgium and a MSc in civil engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada. On 27 November 1992, Nzojibwami was set apart as the first branch president of the LDS Church in Burundi. In November 1993, at the beginning of the Burundi Civil War, Nzojibwami left Burundi and emigrated to Canada. Égide De Boeck
Égide de Boeck was born on 13 November 1875 in Oppuurs, Belgium. He was a priest, religious and linguist in the then Belgian Congo. He died on 20 December 1944. Life De Boeck grew up in Flanders. His father was a primary school teacher, his mother a very devout woman. He had several younger brothers and sisters: Alphonse, a priest in Belgium, Marlo, Achilles and Jules, both missionaries in Scheut, a sister who worked as a nun in the Philippines and a brother who married. After secondary school in Malines, he entered the novitiate of the missionaries of Scheut in 1894. He was ordained a priest on July 1, 1900 and was sent to New Antwerp (now Makanza) in the Congo on September 1 of the same year. From 1913 to 1916 he was Apostolic Prefect of Kasaï Supérieur. Egidio Romualdo Duni (or ''Egide Romuald Duny''; 11 February 1708 – 11 June 1775) was an Italian composer who studied in Naples and worked in Italy, France and London, writing both Italian and French operas. Biography Born in Matera, Duni was taught music by his father, Francesco Duni, and two sisters. At the age of nine, he was accepted at the ''Conservatorio di Santa Maria di Loreto'', near Naples. There he worked with Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Giovanni Paisiello, and other masters of Italian opera. His first success was with the opera ''Nerone'' presented at the Rome Carnival in 1735. Thereafter he was in London (''Demofoonte'', 1737), returning to Italy where he eventually became ''maestro di cappella'' in Parma in 1749.
