Egg (chair)
The Egg is a chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959 for the Radisson SAS hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is manufactured by Republic of Fritz Hansen. Design The Egg was designed in a typical Jacobsen style, using state-of-the-art material. It is believed to be inspired by Eero Saarinen's "Womb chair", from which it borrows some traits. Related to the Egg is the Swan chair and, to some degree, many of Jacobsen's plywood chairs such as "7", the Ant, the Cigar, the Grand Prix-chair, the Pot, the Drop and the Giraffe. The Egg (like the Swan) was also designed as a couch. While the Swan couch is still in production, only a handful of Egg couches have ever been made. Ovalia Egg Chair
The Ovalia Egg Chair was designed by Denmark, Danish industrial designer Henrik Thor-Larsen and first displayed in 1968. It resembles Eero Aarnio's Ball Chair, but has narrower proportions. Danish Modern
Danish modern is a style of minimalist furniture and housewares from Denmark associated with the Danish design movement. In the 1920s, Kaare Klint embraced the principles of Bauhaus modernism in furniture design, creating clean, pure lines based on an understanding of classical furniture craftsmanship coupled with careful research into materials, proportions, and the requirements of the human body. Designers such as Arne Jacobsen and Hans Wegner helped bring about a thriving furniture industry from the 1940s to the 1960s. Adopting mass-production techniques and concentrating on form rather than just function, Finn Juhl contributed to the style's success. Nørrebrogade
Nørrebrogade is the principal shopping street of the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from The Lakes in the southeast to Nørrebro station in the northwest, linking Frederiksborggade and Queen Louise's Bridge with Frederikssundsvej. The street passes Assistens Cemetery, Nørrebro Runddel and the Superkilen linear park. Buildings include the multipurpose venue Nørrebrohallen and two churches. History Nørrebrogade originates in the road that led in and out of Copenhagen's Northern City Gate. Few buildings were located along the road due to the so-called Demarcation Line enforced restrictions on the construction of buildings outside Copenhagen's fortifications.
