Egersunds Idrettsklubb, commonly known as Egersund or EIK, is a Norwegian sports club from Egersund in Rogaland. The club has sections for football, handball and athletics, and is most known for its football team, which plays in the 2. divisjon, the third tier of the Norwegian football league system. History The inhabitants of Egersund first started playing football late in the 19th century, after influence from the English pottery-workers in the city. In the beginning the football was not organized, but during the spring of 1909 ''Egersund Fodboldsklubb'' was founded. The club, who played in kits with yellow and black stripes, did not play any competitive matches, but is today considered the forerunner of Egersunds IK. After the First World War, the gymnastics club ''Egersunds TF'' created a football-team, and Egersunds IK was founded in September 1919 when the football section of Egersunds TF broke out to create its own club. is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Lister. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Flekkefjord. Maurice Ross
Maurice Alexander Ross (born 3 February 1981) is a Scottish football player and coach, who was manager of Cowdenbeath. Ross made his first senior appearance in professional football in February 2000 and played for eleven different clubs: Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Millwall, Viking, Kocaelispor, Aberdeen, Beijing Guoan, Motherwell, Livingston and FK Vidar. Magnus Powell
Magnus Powell (born 28 October 1974) is a Swedish football coach and a former striker who is the head coach of Östersund. Club career Powell was born in Örnsköldsvik to English footballer Ronald Powell. He played in the Swedish Allsvenskan from 1995 to 1999 for Helsingborgs IF and Örebro SK. He was an important part of the 1999 Helsingborg team that won the championship in Sweden scoring 8 goals in 24 matches. At the start of the 2000-season Powell was sold to Lillestrøm SK for £350,000 to replace Icelandic international Heiðar Helguson. Although he has struggled with injuries Powell has been a key-member of the Lillestrøm squad since arriving in 2000, scoring 29 goals in 73 league matches. Bengt Sæternes
Bengt Sæternes (born 1 January 1975) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a centre forward from 1991 until 2011. He began his playing career at local clubs Egersund and Eiger, whilst he had spells at Viking, Odd Grenland, Bodø/Glimt, Club Brugge, Brann, OB, and Vålerenga. Sæternes was capped seven times for Norway. Before the 2012–13 Tercera División, Sæternes joined UD Vecindario as assistant coach on a one-year contract. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). 2012 Norwegian Football Cup
The 2012 Norwegian Football Cup will the 107th season of the Norwegian annual knockout football tournament. It began with qualification matches in April 2012. The first round was played on 1 May 2012 and the tournament ended with the final on 25 November 2012. Aalesund was the defending champions, having beaten Brann 2–1 in last season's final, but was eliminated by Sandefjord in the Fourth Round. 2011 Norwegian Premier League
The 2011 Tippeligaen was the 67th completed season of top division football in Norway. The competition began on 20 March 2011 and ended on 27 November 2011. Rosenborg were the defending champions, having secured their twenty-second League Championship on 24 October 2010. Sogndal, Sarpsborg 08 and Fredrikstad entered as the three promoted teams from the 2010 1. divisjon. They replaced Hønefoss, Kongsvinger and Sandefjord who were relegated to the 2011 1. divisjon. IK Start 2
Norwegian reserve football teams compete at all levels of league football within the Norwegian football league system apart from the top two divisions, Eliteserien and 1. divisjon. The highest league these teams can currently enter is the 2. divisjon, set at the third tier of the league system. The reserve teams are attached to their first teams with a "2" suffix and must play in a lower league than the first team. Furthermore, if a club's first team plays in the 1. divisjon, the reserves team cannot play in the 2. divisjon either. If a reserve team ends up at a promotion spot when it is not allowed to be promoted, the promotion is awarded to best following team in the league standings which is allowed to be promoted. James Martin Quinn (born 18 November 1959) is a Northern Irish former footballer and manager.
