Effie Wilder
Effie Leland Wilder (August 28, 1909 – July 19, 2007) was an American homemaker and writer. The first book she wrote was published when she was 85 years old, it was titled ''Out to Pasture''. Personal life She was born on August 28, 1909, in Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, to Effie Williams Leland and Warren Allston Leland. She graduated from Converse College. She married Allison F. P. Wilder and had one daughter, Frances Townsend, and three sons, Allison F. P. Wilder, Jr., John A. L. Wilder, and W. Leland Wilder. She had seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She died July 19, 2007, in Summerville, South Carolina at age 97. Career as author Wilder authored five books: ''Older But Wilder'', ''Out To Pasture'', ''One More Time'', ''Over What Hill?'' and ''Oh, My Goodness!''. Homemaking is mainly an American and Canadian term for the management of a home, otherwise known as housework, housekeeping, housewifery or household management. It is the act of overseeing the organizational, day-to-day operations of a house or estate, and the managing of other domestic concerns. South Carolina Governor

The Order of the Palmetto is the highest civilian honor awarded by the Governor of South Carolina. It is awarded to South Carolinians who demonstrate extraordinary lifetime achievement, service and contributions of national or statewide significance. History Governor John West created the Order of the Palmetto in 1971 to recognize lifetime achievement and service by South Carolina residents and those born in the state. It is thought to be modeled on similar honors bestowed in other states, such as the Kentucky Colonel. Over the years, the honor program has been modified. James Hovis Hodges (born November 19, 1956) is an American businessman, attorney, and politician who served as the 114th governor of South Carolina from 1999 to 2003. Since his victory in 1998, Hodges has remained the only Democrat elected to the South Carolina Governor's office since the 1982 election. Meals on Wheels is a programme that delivers meals to individuals at home who are unable to purchase or prepare their own meals. The name is often used generically to refer to home-delivered meals programmes, not all of which are actually named "Meals on Wheels". Many of the housebound recipients are the elderly, and many of the volunteers are also elderly but able-bodied and able to drive automobiles. Research shows that home-delivered meal programmes significantly improve diet quality, reduce food insecurity and improve quality-of-life among the recipients. The programmes also reduce government expenditures by reducing the need of recipients to use hospitals, nursing homes or other expensive community-based services. Rockingham, North Carolina
Rockingham is a city in Richmond County, North Carolina, United States, named after the Marquess of Rockingham. The population was 9,558 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Richmond County. The city is the home of Rockingham Speedway, formerly the North Carolina Speedway. It was a staple of the NASCAR schedule for nearly 40 years before the race was discontinued in 2004. Downtown Rockingham is currently being revitalized as a part of a ten-year plan named "Shaping Our Future: 2023". The city is currently experiencing an economic boom, with new businesses opening in the downtown area.
