Edward Williams (died 1721)
Sir Edward Williams (1659–1721) of Gwernyfed, Breconshire, was a British politician who sat in the English House of Commons between 1697 and 1708 and in the British House of Commons from 1708 to 1721. Early life Williams was the second son of Sir Thomas Williams of Elham, Kent and his first wife Anne Hogbeane, daughter of John Hogbeane of Elham. His father was the Royal Physician to King Charles II. He was baptised at Elham, Kent on 6 November 1659. By 1675 he had been knighted and was married by licence dated 9 July 1675 to Elizabeth Williams, the daughter and coheir of Sir Henry Williams of Gwernyfed. This marriage brought him a modest estate in Breconshire, a county he represented in Parliament for seventeen years. Political career Williams, a high Tory, was elected Member of Parliament for Breconshire in a contested by-election on 17 February 1697 but did not stand at the succeeding general election in 1698. Gwernyfed
Gwernyfed is a community in Powys, Wales, centred on the village of Aberllynfi. It takes its name from Gwernyfed Park, a medieval deer park within the community. The community of Gwernyfed was established in 1985 through the merger of the former Aberllynfi community, the greater part of the former Tre-goed & Felindre community, and small parts of the Bronllys and former Llanelieu communities. Sir John Williams, 2nd Baronet, of Elham (24 November 1653 (baptised) – 28 April 1723), was an English politician, of Welsh parentage, who sat in the House of Commons from 1701 to 1705. William Gwyn Vaughan
William Gwyn Vaughan (c. 1681–1753) of Trebarried, Breconshire, was a Welsh Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1721 to 1734. Vaughan was the second son of Gwyn Vaughan of Trebarried and his wife Mary Lucy, daughter of William Lucy, Bishop of St David's. In 1694, he succeeded his brother Thomas. He matriculated at Queen's College, Oxford on 12 May 1698, aged 16. He married Frances Vaughan, daughter of John Vaughan of Hergest Vaughan was returned as a Tory Member of Parliament for Breconshire at a by-election on 30 August 1721. He was elected for Breconshire again in a contest at the 1722 general election, and was returned unopposed in 1727.
