Edward Doyle was an Irish Labour Party politician. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Labour Party Teachta Dála A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). Eddie Doyle (American Football)
Edward James Doyle (August 17, 1898 – October 8, 1942) was a professional football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) from 1924 to 1925 with the Frankford Yellow Jackets and the Pottsville Maroons. During his two-year NFL career, Doyle scored three touchdowns. He also helped Pottsville win the 1925 NFL Championship, before it was stripped from the team due to a disputed rules violation. A graduate of the United States Military Academy, Doyle later fought in World War II, after the United States entry into the war, in 1942. He received the rank of captain and was sent to fight in North Africa. Captain Doyle was fatally shot by a sniper in the Allied troop landings of the North African Campaign. He is believed to have been the first American killed in North Africa during the war. Eddie Doyle (hurler)
Edmond Doyle (1 February 1897 – 9 May 1948) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Mooncoin and with the Kilkenny senior inter-county team in the 1930s. Playing career Club Doyle played his club hurling with the famous Mooncoin club and enjoyed much success. He helped Mooncoin to a three-in-a-row of senior county titles in 1916, 1917 and 1918. In the absence of a senior championship Doyle still continued his winning ways ne capturing junior county medals in 1920 and 1922. He captured further senior county titles in 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1932. Doyle was captain of the team in the latter year. Although he had retired in 1935 Doyle returned the following year and played a significant role in Mooncoin’s county final victory. It was his seventh senior county triumph overall. Edward Doyle (born November 30, 1935) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1995 to 1999. Background Doyle was educated in Montreal, and did not attend university. He worked as a radio and television news journalist in Montreal, Kitchener and Hamilton, and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Politics Doyle was elected to the Ontario legislature in the Hamilton-area riding of Wentworth East in the 1995 provincial election, defeating Liberal Shirley Collins and incumbent New Democrat Mark Morrow by a plurality of about 3,606 votes. He served for the next four years as a backbench supporter of Mike Harris's government.
