Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. In 1968, three of the genre's most famous pioneers – Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple – were founded. Though they came to attract wide audiences, they were often derided by critics. Several American bands modified heavy metal into more accessible forms during the 1970s: the raw, sleazy sound and shock rock of Alice Cooper and Kiss (band), Kiss; the blues-rooted rock of Aerosmith; and the flashy guitar leads and party rock of Van Halen. During the mid-1970s, Judas Priest helped spur the genre's evolution by discarding much of its blues influence,Walser (1993), p. 6 while Motörhea ...

Triple Brutal
''Triple Brutal'' is the third album by the parody metal band, Austrian Death Machine. The album feature members of Carnifex, The Faceless, Bleeding Through, and Impending Doom. The album was planned to be released by Metal Blade Records, but the label refused to release the album, so Lambesis signed to Artery Recordings. Critical reception New Noise Magazine writer Jesse Striewski wrote "...those who enjoy their metal laced with an abundance of quotes from cheesy action flicks should not be let down." Gregory Heaney of AllMusic wrote "Although the schtick can wear a bit thin at times, musically Triple Brutal is a solid album ready-made for the mosh pit, and those looking to get some cathartic metal that doesn't take itself too seriously, or maybe just a little more of The Governator, into their lives won't be disappointed." D.X. Ferris of MetalSucks wrote "Unlike its predecessors, Triple Brutal does not sound like a funny guy and his jovial friends enjoying themselves. Compar ...

Evildead
Evildead is an American thrash metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1986. The band was originally composed of members of two former bands, Agent Steel and Abattoir, including guitarist Juan Garcia, who is their only remaining original member. During their initial nine-year run, Evildead released only two studio albums: ''Annihilation of Civilization'' (1989) and '' The Underworld'' (1991). Although their commercial success was limited, their music is still highly regarded amongst metal fans. Evildead was plagued by extended inactivity due to lineup changes and problems with making a follow-up to ''The Underworld''. This resulted in their official breakup in 1995. After a short-lived reunion from 2008 to 2012, the band reformed once again in 2016, and released their third studio album '' United $tate$ of Anarchy'', their first in 29 years, in October 2020. Beyond Recognition
''Beyond Recognition'' is the third full-length album (and final until 2009's ''The Prophecy'') by American thrash metal band Defiance, released in 1992 on Roadrunner Records. It was a bit of a departure from the band's previous work. It can be best described as "progressive thrash metal", featuring more complex song structures, odd time signatures, numerous key and tempo changes, technical riffs and drumming, and even clean sections that often evoked jazz fusion. This newer, more distinctive style earned the band their biggest critical success to date, and many fans hail it as their finest work. Despite this, the album did not sell as well as their previous works due to a shifting musical landscape and as a result, poor advertisement for the album. It has been out of print for many years, though many thrash fans consider it to be a lost gem of the genre. During the recording of ''Beyond Recognition'', vocalist Steev Esquivel temporarily left the band due to lack of focus due ...

Product Of Society
''Product of Society'' is the debut album by the American thrash metal band Defiance. It was released in 1989 on Roadracer Records. It was the only album by Defiance to feature Ken Elkington on vocals and had cover art by Ed Repka. The first album is much more straightforward tech thrash metal style comparing to their other albums, which would have a more progressive/complex sound until ''The Prophecy''. Re-released in 2008 by Metal Mind Productions from Poland as a new digipack edition on golden disc, digitally remastered using 24-Bit process and limited to 2000 numerated copies. Annihilator guitarist Jeff Waters produced the album. However, the band was very unsatisfied with his production, which sounds very thin and takes away from the thrash metal crunch that gives the music its tonal identity. Track listing #"The Fault" - 3:09 #"Death Machine" - 3:54 #"Product of Society" - 3:27 #"Forgotten" - 3:43 #"Lock Jaw" - 3:40 #"Insomnia" - 3:55 #"Deadly Intentions" - 2:53 ...

Defiance (metal Band)
Defiance is an American thrash metal band from Oakland, California. They played a technical style of thrash originally evoking bands like Testament, though they would later move on to playing in their own unique, more progressive thrash style. After dissolving in 1995, they reformed in 2005 and released their fourth studio album ''The Prophecy'' in late 2009. They broke up once again in 2012, but announced yet another reunion in September 2019. Biography Early career (1985–1988) Defiance was formed in 1985 by guitarist Brad Bowers, drummer Matt Vander Ende, and bassist Mike Kaufmann. Doug Harrington joined later but left the band not long after due to conflicts with Bowers, and was replaced by Jim Adams. Eventually the band ousted Bowers and replaced him with Harrington. In 1987, the band recruited a vocalist in Mitch Mayes. Now with a stable and complete line-up, Defiance began playing shows in the Bay Area. With the local thrash scene gaining momentum, the band attained l ...

Spiritual Healing (album)
''Spiritual Healing'' is the third studio album by American death metal band Death, released on February 16, 1990, by Combat Records. It is the band's only album to feature both guitarist James Murphy and bassist Terry Butler and the last to feature drummer Bill Andrews. Overview ''Spiritual Healing'' was the first of Death's albums to show Schuldiner's lyrics moving away from the gore and horror themes of previous works, focusing instead on themes of society and "real life horror", including serial killers, drug addiction, genetic reconstruction (influenced by a story on ''That's Incredible!''), and faith healers. The musical content is more obviously melodic, a facet highlighted by James Murphy's characteristic lead guitar playing. The members of Death and their manager/co-producer Eric Greif stayed in a single motel room at the Safari Inn, near Busch Gardens, for the entire six weeks the album was recorded and mixed, although bassist Terry Butler and drummer Bill Andr ...

Leprosy (album)
''Leprosy'' is the second studio album by American death metal band Death, released on August 12, 1988, by Combat Records. The album is notable in its different tone and quality from the band's 1987 debut, it is the first example of Scott Burns' work heard on many of the death metal and grindcore albums of that era. The cover is featured in '' Metal: A Headbanger's Journey''. It is the first album to feature drummer Bill Andrews and the only one to feature guitarist Rick Rozz. In a poll by the German ''Rock Hard'' magazine, ''Leprosy'' was voted the number one of the 25 most important death metal albums of all time. On April 29, 2014, a three-disc remastered edition containing bonus tracks was released via Relapse Records. The title track was covered by the blackened death metal band Akercocke on their 2007 album ''Antichrist''. Dutch melodic death metal band Callenish Circle covered "Pull the Plug" as a bonus on their '' Flesh Power Dominion'' album, released in 2002; s ...

Scream Bloody Gore
''Scream Bloody Gore'' is the first studio album by American death metal band Death, released on May 25, 1987, by Combat Records. It is considered by many to be "the first true death metal record". Chuck Schuldiner, the band’s founder and leader, performed guitar, bass and vocals, and composed all tracks on the album. John Hand is noted in the album's credits as playing rhythm guitar, though this was incorrect and Hand was only in the band for a short period and never performed or recorded on the album. This is also the only Death album to feature drummer Chris Reifert, who had joined for the ''Mutilation'' demo, and the only one of the band's albums to not be recorded at Morrisound Recording. Perseverance Holdings, Ltd. and Relapse Records reissued the album on May 20, 2016, on CD, vinyl, and cassette. The album was remastered for this release, and also included the original Florida session as well as recordings of rehearsals performed in 1986. Overview The album was actu ...

Death (metal Band)
Death was an American death metal band formed in Altamonte Springs, Florida, in 1984 by Chuck Schuldiner. Death is considered to be among the most influential bands in heavy metal music and a pioneering force in death metal. The band's 1987 debut album, ''Scream Bloody Gore'', has been widely regarded as one of the first death metal records, alongside the first records from Possessed and Necrophagia. Death had a revolving lineup, with Schuldiner being the sole consistent member. The group's style also progressed, from the raw sound on its first two albums to a more sophisticated one in its later stage. The band ceased to exist after Schuldiner died of glioma and pneumonia in December 2001, but remains an enduring influence on heavy metal. History Early history (1984–1987) Founded in 1984 by Chuck Schuldiner under the original name of Mantas in Altamonte Springs, Florida, Death was among the more widely known early pioneers of the death metal sound, along with California's ...

Leave Scars
''Leave Scars'' is the third studio album released by the American thrash metal band, Dark Angel, released on January 24, 1989. It was their first album with vocalist Ron Rinehart and bassist Mike Gonzalez (who joined just prior to the release of ''Darkness Descends''), and the last to feature guitarist Jim Durkin. ''Leave Scars'' was Dark Angel's most successful release, peaking at number 159 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Musical style ''Leave Scars'' saw Dark Angel expand the thrash metal sound of their previous two albums, '' We Have Arrived'' and ''Darkness Descends''. It introduced a more technical and progressive element to the band's music than the raw sound of its predecessors, presenting two instrumentals and several songs lasting more than five minutes. This album can also be seen as the genesis of the direction Dark Angel would take on their 1991 follow-up album ''Time Does Not Heal'', which saw them expanding their technical sound even further. Reception ''Leave Scars' ...
