Edward Harrington (politician)
Edward Harrington ( 1852 – 29 May 1902) was an Irish nationalist politician, who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for West Kerry from 1885 to 1892, taking his seat in the House of Commons of what was then the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland He was born in County Kerry, the youngest son of Dennis Harrington of Castletownbere, County Cork, and younger brother of the more prominent Timothy Harrington, also an Irish Nationalist MP. His mother was Ellen O'Sullivan. He was a barrister, though not a member of the Irish bar. He was editor and proprietor of the ''Kerry Sentinel'', and in this role came into conflict with the authorities. In 1883 he was found guilty of posting unlawful notices, and in 1887 was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for publishing the proceedings of the Tralee branch of the National League, which had been 'proclaimed' (banned). Edward Harrington (poet)
Edward Phillip Harrington (28 September 1895 – 28 May 1966) was an Australian poet and short story writer, the last of the bush balladists. Born in Shepparton, in central Victoria, Harrington was the fourth child of Philip Harrington, a farmer from Ireland, and his Australian wife, Margaret O'Brien. Edward Harrington served in Palestine with the Australian Light Horse during the First World War, and took part in the charge on Beersheba. He was discharged in 1919 with a repatriation pension, as he needed medical attention for the rest of his life. Harrington was a founding member of the ''Australian Poetry Lovers' Society'' (1934) and the ''Bread and Cheese Club The Bread and Cheese Club was a Melbourne-based Australian art and literary society and publisher. Edward Harrington (January 10, 1935 – June 1, 2018), better known by his stage name Eddy Clearwater, was an American blues musician who specialized in Chicago blues. ''Blues Revue'' said he plays "joyous rave-ups…he testifies with stunning soul fervor and powerful guitar. One of the blues' finest songwriters." Early life Edward Harrington was born in Macon, Mississippi, on January 10, 1935. He was raised by his part-Cherokee grandmother in Mississippi. His family moved to Birmingham, Alabama, in 1948. He was a cousin of the blues harmonica player Carey Bell. He began playing guitar at age 13, teaching himself left-handed and upside down. He began performing with gospel groups, including the Five Blind Boys of Alabama.
