Edward C. McFetridge
Edward Clinton McFetridge (April15, 1836February17, 1914) was an American lawyer, businessman, and Republican politician. He was the 9th State Treasurer of Wisconsin (1882–1887) and served 4 years in the Wisconsin Legislature, representing Dodge County. Biography Born in Rochester, New York, he was admitted to the New York bar. He moved to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin in 1858, where he practiced law and opened a woolen mill. He served as mayor of Beaver Dam, as county treasurer of Dodge County, Wisconsin, and he also sat on the Dodge County Board of Supervisors. He was a presidential elector in 1872. Jeremiah McLain Rusk
Jeremiah McLain Rusk (June 17, 1830November 21, 1893) was an American Republican politician. He was the 2nd United States Secretary of Agriculture (1889–1893) and the 15th Governor of Wisconsin (1882–1889), and served three terms in the United States House of Representatives (1871–1877), representing northwest Wisconsin. He also served as a Union Army officer during the American Civil War, served one term in the Wisconsin State Assembly (1862), and was the last Bank Comptroller of Wisconsin (1866–1870) before the office was abolished. Biography Rusk was born in Malta, Ohio, the younger brother of Allen Rusk. He was a member of the Republican Party. He began as a planter, then turned to innkeeping and finally to banking before the American Civil War. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. From 1848 to 1853 there were 66 assembly districts; from 1854 to 1856, 82 districts; from 1857 to 1861, 97 districts; and from 1862 to 1972, 100 districts.
