Eduardo Ruberté Bisó
Eduardo Ruberté Bisó (5 May 1918 – 30 March 1996) was a Puerto Rican real estate broker and Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, from 1964 to 1968. Early years Ruberté Bisó was the son of Dario Ruberté Casiano and Maria Bisó Hernandez, and married Eugenia Cordero Suárez on 7 June 1942. Ruberté Bisó had a sister from the same marriage, 7 years his younger, named Matilde. He worked as an assistant bookkeeper in the banking industry. His second wife was Olga Huertas. Later he worked his way into real estate brokerage. Mayoral term Ruberté Bisó is best remembered for the inauguration of the new city cemetery in the El Yeso sector of the city, near the community of Jaime L. Drew. He is also remembered for having dealt successfully with a citywide strike by municipal sanitation workers. Death and legacy Ruberté Bisó died in Cuarto, Ponce, Puerto Rico, on 30 March 1996. Juan Luis Boscio
Juan Luis Boscio Desprez (21 June 1896 – 3 September 1980) was a Puerto Rican merchant and Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico from 1961 to 1964. During his tenure as mayor, in 1962, a major shopping mall opened in the city called Centro del Sur which, at the moment of its opening was "the most modern in the Caribbean". Early years Boscio Desprez was the son of Juan Bautista Boscio-Cofresí and Eugenia Desprez Boudon. He was born on 21 June 1896 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. He married Herminia Monllor on 23 December 1922 and they had 3 children: Roberto (b. abt. 1925), Jose Luis (b. abt 1926), and Gladys (b. abt. 1928). Philanthropist Juan Luis Boscio was one of the founders of the ''Albergue de Niños de Ponce'' (Ponce Children's Shelter), a non-profit organization dedicated to the providing shelter for homeless children. This is a list of mayors of Ponce, Puerto Rico's southern economic center, the island's second largest and second most important city. From 1692 to 1840, the office of mayor in Ponce was filled either by local hacendados or by military officers appointed by the governor, depending on whether the political situation on Spain at the time was that of a constitutional or an absolutist government. From 1840 to 1870, mayors were oftentimes elected by the municipal council, whose members were called '' regidores''.
