Eduardo Lara
Eduardo Lara Lozano (born 4 September 1959 in Cali) is a Colombian football manager. Lara has coached all levels of the Colombian national youth team. 2023 Alianza FC Career He led the Colombian under-20s (U20s) in 2005 to win the Sudamericana and to the World Cup, where they lost in the quarter-finals to Argentina. In 2007 his U20s failed to make it to the World Cup, but the under-17s qualified for the World Cup in Korea by finishing 2nd in the Sudamericana, by goal differential to Brazil. On September 19, 2008, he was named as a provisional manager for a major Colombian football team after Jorge Luis Pinto was dismissed by the board of the Colombian Football Federation. He led the team in the matches against Paraguay and Brazil for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. He led U20s in the 2011 World Cup in Colombia in which the Colombian team beat France 4-1, Mali 2-0 and Korea 1-0 at the group stage. Jorge Luis Pinto Afanador (born 16 December 1952) is a Colombian football manager. He is the current manager of Categoría Primera A club Deportivo Cali. Managing career Pinto managed several teams in Colombia, including Santa Fe and Unión Magdalena on two occasions, before joining Club Alianza Lima (Peru) in 1997. The team was able to win the 1997 Torneo Descentralizado, after an 18-year drought. Afterwards, he left the club and returned to Colombia. After an unsuccessful attempt at coaching Costa Rica in 2004–2005, Pinto returned to Colombia to coach a recently promoted team Corporación Nuevo Cúcuta Deportivo which he led to win their first Colombian National Championship in their history. He was later named as the new coach of the Colombia national football team. Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay (formerly ''Torneo Águila''), is the second-division football league in Colombia. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season.
