Eduard Arnold Martin
Eduard Arnold Martin (22 April 1809, Heidelberg – 5 December 1875, Berlin) was a German obstetrician and gynecologist. He was the father of medic Carl Eduard Martin (1838-1907), philologist Ernst Eduard Martin (1841-1910) and obstetrician August Eduard Martin (1847-1933). Initially a student of law, he later studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg (1830–31), where his instructors included Maximilian Joseph von Chelius and Franz Naegele. He then continued his education at the University of Jena, and received his doctorate in 1833 at the University of Göttingen with the thesis "''De lithogenesi praesertim urinaria''". Julius Leopold Pagel
Julius Leopold Pagel (29 May 1851, Pollnow – 30 January 1912, Berlin) was a German physician and historian of medicine. Pagel was educated at the gymnasium at Stolp and at the University of Berlin (M.D. 1875). In 1876 he established himself as a physician in Berlin, receiving from the university in that city the ''venia legendi'' in 1891, and the title of professor in 1898. In 1902 he became assistant professor of the history of medicine. From 1885 Pagel was assistant editor of August Hirsch's ''Biographisches Lexikon der Hervorragenden Ärzte Aller Zeiten und Völker''. He was also editor of the ''Deutsche Ärzte-Zeitung'' and of the ''Biographisches Lexikon Hervorragender Ärzte des Neunzehnten Jahrhunderts'', Berlin and Vienna, 1901. Adolf Gusserow
Adolf Ludwig Sigismund Gusserow (Berlin, 8 July 1836 – Berlin, 8 February 1906) was a German gynecologist who was a native of Berlin. He married Clara Oppenheim (1861–1944), a descendant of Berlin banker Joseph Mendelssohn. Gusserow began his career as a lecturer of gynecological diseases and obstetrics in Berlin, and afterwards was a professor at the Universities of Utrecht, Zurich and Strasbourg. Later he returned to Berlin as director of the clinic of obstetrics and gynecology at the Berlin-Charité. Two of his better-known students and assistants were Alfred Dührssen (1862-1933) in Berlin, and Paul Zweifel (1848-1927) in Zurich. In 1870 Gusserow was the first physician to describe a rare type of uterine cervical adenocarcinoma that is sometimes referred to as "adenoma malignum" or as a mucinous type of "minimal deviation adenocarcinoma" (mucinous MDA). Robert Michaelis Von Olshausen
Robert Michaelis von Olshausen (3 July 1835 – 1 February 1915) was a German obstetrician and gynecologist. He was born in Kiel and died in Berlin. He was the son of Justus Olshausen (1800–82), a professor of Oriental languages at the University of Kiel. Biography In 1857 he obtained his doctorate from Königsberg, and afterwards served as an assistant to Eduard Arnold Martin in Berlin and to Anton Friedrich Hohl at the University of Halle. In 1863 he became an associate professor at Halle, followed by a full professorship during the following year. In 1887 he returned to Berlin as successor to Karl Ludwig Ernst Schroeder as director of the university ''Frauenklinik''. He is credited with introducing new obstetrical techniques into surgery.
