Edmundston Blizzard
The Edmundston Blizzard are a junior ice hockey team from Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. They play in the Maritime Junior Hockey League. History The Moncton Hawks were New Brunswick Junior Hockey League Junior A champions in 1981, 1982, and 1983. In 1983, the Moncton Hawks abandoned the faltering New Brunswick Junior Hockey League and joined the Metro Valley Junior Hockey League which until then was a Nova Scotia-based league. In the summer of 2008, the Moncton Beavers moved to neighbouring Dieppe and became the Commandos. The Commandos played host to the 2009 Fred Page Cup. The Commandos lost their first game after moving to Dieppe on September 13, 2008 2-1 to the Yarmouth Mariners. On November 2, 2016 it was announced that Dieppe could not support a Jr. A team and that the franchise would be relocating to the city of Edmundston, New Brunswick for the start of the 2017-18 season. Edmundston
Edmundston is a city in Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada. On 1 January 2023, Edmundston will expanded, annexing the village of Rivière-Verte and parts of the local service districts of the parish of Saint-Jacques and the parish of Saint-Joseph. History During the early colonial period, the area was a camping and meeting place of the Maliseet (Wolastoqiyik) Nation during seasonal migrations. From the mid to late eighteenth century, one of the largest Maliseet villages had been established at Madawaska and had become a refuge site for other Wabanaki peoples. The Maliseet village was originally located near the falls at the confluence of the Madawaska and Saint John Rivers. Currently, the City of Edmundston surrounds a federal Indian Reserve (St. Basile 10/Madawaska Maliseet First Nation). Sid Veysey
Sidney G. "Sid" Veysey (born July 30, 1955) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey centre who played one game in the National Hockey League, with the Vancouver Canucks on October 14, 1977. The rest of his professional career was spent in the minor leagues, mainly in the Central Hockey League. Selected by the Canucks in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft, Veysey made his professional debut that year, and played hockey until retiring in 1983. The Longueuil Collège-Français were a major junior ice hockey team based in Longueuil, Quebec, Canada. They played three seasons, from 1988–89 QMJHL season, 1988 to 1990–91 QMJHL season, 1991, in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The team played its home games out of the 2,400-seat Colisée Jean Béliveau. The team was a revival of the Quebec Remparts franchise which last played in the QMJHL during the 1984–85 QMJHL season, 1984–85 season. The Carleton Place Canadians are a junior ice hockey team based in Carleton Place, Ontario Canada. The Canadians are members of the Central Canada Hockey League and Canadian Junior Hockey League, and as such are eligible for the Eastern Canadian Fred Page Cup championship and Royal Bank Cup National championship. History The Carleton Place Kings began play in 1969 in the Renfrew-Lanark Junior C Hockey League. Soon after, the league folded and the Kings ended up in the Rideau-St. Lawrence Junior B Hockey League in 1971. This league later became the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League. Les Braves de Valleyfield are a Junior ice hockey team from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada. They were a part of the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League for 25 seasons. Another franchise relocated and took over their market and former moniker in 2014. History The Valleyfield Braves is the second team to bear this name. The first Braves team was formed in 1944 as a Senior Amateur hockey team in the Quebec Provincial Hockey League, then moved to the Quebec Senior Hockey League in 1945 and finally as a Minor League team with the Quebec Hockey League from 1953 to 1955. The current Valleyfield team won their first league championship in 1999. The Braves advanced to the Fred Page Cup in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The Ligue de Hockey Junior du Québec (LHJQ) or Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL) is a Hockey Québec Canadian Junior A ice hockey league and is a member of Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
