Edmunds Elksnis
Edmunds Elksnis (born November 19, 1990) is a Latvian professional basketball player from Rūjiena, Latvia, who is currently playing for Valmiera Glass ViA . Priot joining Valmiera Glass ViA Elksnis represented Tartu Ülikool and BK Ventspils in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. Elksnis is playing point guard position. Professional career Edmunds Elksnis started his professional career with BK Valmiera in 2011, when Ainars Zvirgzdins gave a chance for young player to prove himself with Latvian Basketball League team. In his second professional season Elksnis won Latvian league bronze medal with Valmiera team, which in this time was coached by Varis Krūmiņš. Valmiera came back from 0-2 deficit in bronze series and won Barons Kvartāls with 3-2. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football. The EuroBasket 2022 qualification was a basketball competition that was played from November 2017 to February 2021, to determine the 20 FIBA Europe nations who would join the automatically qualified co-hosts Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, and Germany at the EuroBasket 2022 finals tournament. Pre-Qualifiers The EuroBasket 2022 Pre-Qualifiers were played by 17 teams over three rounds. The best eight teams advanced to the EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers. First round The pre-qualifiers first round was played by nine teams: Five eliminated in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup pre-qualifiers, and four teams that did not enter in those qualifiers.
