Edmundo Rivero
Leonel Edmundo Rivero (June 8, 1911 – January 18, 1986) was an Argentine tango singer, composer, and impresario. Biography Early days Rivero was born in the southern Buenos Aires suburb of Valentín Alsina. Joining his father in some of his travels, he was exposed to the lifestyle and the music of the gauchos of Buenos Aires Province from his early days. His maternal great-grandfather, named Lionel, was a British immigrant, and fought against the Pampas tribes in the mid-19th century, being wounded by a spear. From him, Rivero inherited his blond hair and his first name. In his teens, Rivero's family moved to the Belgrano neighborhood, in the days where tango developed as a dancing phenomenon, but also as an ever more complex music form under the "ABC" of composers/directors Arolas, Bardi, and Cobián. Tango Music
Tango is a style of music in or time that originated among European and African immigrant populations of Argentina and Uruguay (collectively, the " Rioplatenses"). It is traditionally played on a solo guitar, guitar duo, or an ensemble, known as the ''orquesta típica'', which includes at least two violins, flute, piano, double bass, and at least two bandoneóns. Aníbal Troilo
Aníbal Carmelo Troilo (11 July 1914 – 18 May 1975), also known as Pichuco, was an Argentine tango musician. Troilo was a bandoneon player, composer, arranger, and bandleader in Argentina. His orquesta típica was among the most popular with social dancers during the golden age of tango (1940–1955), but he changed to a concert sound by the late 1950s. Troilo's orchestra is best known for its instrumentals, though he also recorded with many well-known vocalists such as Roberto Goyeneche, Edmundo Rivero and . Beba Bidart
Eliane René Schianni Bidart ( stage name, Beba Bidart; April 3, 1924 – August 27, 1994), was an Argentine tango singer, actress and dancer. Eliane René Schianni Bidart was born April 3, 1924, in Buenos Aires. She began her studies at the age of ten at Teatro Infantil Labardén. She made thirty tango recordings accompanied by the Francisco Canaro's orchestra and others. Her very first film was ''Los Pulpos'' "Octopussy" (1948) opening out her path for acting on as many as thirty movies in total. She had been in a 12-year relationship with TV host Cacho Fontana She adopted a child, Paulo soon after her divorce from Mr. Fontana. She died of a heart attack on August 27, 1994. Horacio Ferrer
Horacio Ferrer (June 2, 1933 – December 21, 2014) was a Uruguayan-Argentine poet, broadcaster, reciter and tango lyricist. He is particularly well known for having composed the lyrics for tangos by Astor Piazzolla, such as ''Balada para un loco'' and ''Chiquilín de Bachín''. Biography Ferrer was born in Montevideo into an educated family, son of Horacio Ferrer Perez, a professor of history, and Alicia Escurra Francini, who was 11 years older than his father and spoke four languages. He had a close relationship with his brother, Eduardo, to whom he dedicated several of his lyrics. The family paid frequent visits to his mother's brother in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Ferrer learnt to play tangos on the guitar by ear. Milonga (music)
Precursor to tango, milonga is a musical genre that originated in the Río de la Plata areas of Argentina, Uruguay and the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. "Milonga is an excited habanera." The original habanera divided into four pulses, in a standard two-four where every note was stressed. In becoming milonga, though, all four notes turned strong, as tempo was doubled. The strength of the first beat weakened the fourth giving an almost waltz-like feel to milonga: one-two-three (four), one-two-three (four). Habanera is a slower, more explicit sounding ''one'', two, ''three''-four. At least one modern tango pianist believes the polka influenced the speeding up of the milonga. Over time, dance steps and other musical influences were added, eventually contributing to the creation of tango.
