Edmund Hall (Australian Politician)
Edmund Henry Hartley Hall (13 August 1878 – 28 July 1965) was an Australian politician who represented the Western Australian Legislative Council district of Central Province from 1928 until 1947, and the Legislative Assembly seat of Geraldton from 1947 until 1950. He was a member of the Country Party. Biography Born to Edward Hall, a labour, baker and contractor, and Ellen (née Craggs) in the port city of Geraldton, Western Australia, Hall was educated locally before gaining employment at the post office, where he worked in various locations over 20 years. By 1911, he was the postmaster at Laverton, and on 20 April 1916, he married Catherine Forster at St Andrew's Church, Subiaco, with whom he was to have one son and four daughters. On 5 August 1918, he enlisted and was appointed Second Lieutenant with the First Australian Imperial Force, on account of his 7 years' earlier service with the Rifles in Geraldton. 1947 Western Australian State Election
Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 15 March 1947 to elect all 50 members to the Legislative Assembly. The result was a hung parliament—the four-term Labor government, led by Premier Frank Wise, was defeated with a swing of approximately 7%. The Liberal-Country Coalition won exactly half of the seats, one short of a majority, needed the support of the Independent members Harry Shearn and William Read to govern. The election was the Liberal Party's first major showing since its formation in 1944-1945 out of the former Nationalist Party. Les Logan
Leslie Arthur Logan AM (28 January 1908 – 15 December 2000) was an Australian politician who was a Country Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1947 to 1974. He served as a minister in the government of Sir David Brand. Logan was born in Geraldton, Western Australia, to Laura (née Eaton) and Alan Logan. He was raised on a small farm near Northampton, and after leaving school worked for a few years in Geraldton before returning to take over the farm. He was prominent in local agricultural circles, and also served on the Northampton Road Board from 1940 to 1945. Logan entered parliament at a 1947 Legislative Council by-election for Central Province, caused by the resignation of Edmund Hall. He was re-elected in 1948, and following a redistribution in 1950 was appointed to the new Midland Province, which covered the same area. James Hickey (Australian Politician)
James William Hickey (14 January 1878 – 8 April 1932) was an Australian trade unionist and politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1916 to 1928, representing Central Province. He was a minister in the first government of Philip Collier. Hickey was born in Clunes, Victoria, to Annie Agnes (née Baker) and William Francis Hickey. He came to Western Australia to work on the Murchison goldfields. Hickey became an organiser for the Australian Workers' Union, eventually becoming vice-president of its Geraldton branch.
