Edmonton Aviators
The Edmonton Aviators were a soccer club based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The club was founded in 2003 as a member of the United Soccer League's A-League and folded after playing only one season in 2004. Midway through the season, with the club in financial trouble, the league took it over to save it from folding. The renamed Edmonton F.C. only lasted until the end of the year. History Expectations that Edmonton could support an A-League team were high, as the city had recently hosted the inaugural FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship at Commonwealth Stadium to tremendous success and similarly had success in hosting a number of the Canadian men's international games. Commonwealth Stadium (Edmonton)
Commonwealth Stadium is an open-air, multipurpose stadium located in the McCauley neighbourhood of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It has a seating capacity of 56,302, making it the largest open-air stadium in Canada. Primarily used for Canadian football, it also hosts athletics, soccer, rugby union and concerts. Construction commenced in 1975 and the venue opened ahead of the 1978 Commonwealth Games (hence its name), replacing the adjacent Clarke Stadium as the home of the Edmonton Eskimos (the Elks' name until 2020). It received a major expansion ahead of the 1983 Summer Universiade, when it reached a capacity of 60,081. Its main tenants are the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL), and has hosted five Grey Cups, the CFL's championship game. Jaime Julio Lo Presti Travanic (born 27 January 1974) is a former Chilean football defender. Club career In 1992 Jaime started his professional career for Universidad Católica at the age of 17. His pro debut was against Argentinian club Independiente de Avellaneda in August 1992. In 1994, Jaime was loaned to Coquimbo Unido where he scored 3 goals playing in the right back position. Coquimbo Unido renewed his contract for the following 1995 season. In 1996, Jaime signed with Unión Española and also renewed for the 1997 season. From 1998 to 1999 Jaime travelled up to northern Chile to play for Deportes Iquique where he managed to be named top defender and scored 5 goals. His speed and strength caught the interest with the well known Colo-Colo where he spent 3 seasons from 2000 to 2003. Foote Field is a multi-purpose sports facility on the University of Alberta campus in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, built as a legacy facility for the 2001 World Championships in Athletics. It was named for University of Alberta alumnus, former varsity track athlete, and philanthropist Eldon Foote, who donated $2 million toward the construction costs. Design Foote Field features two separate athletic fields on either side of a multi-purpose indoor facility. The East Field is a fully lit stadium that serves as home for the Alberta Golden Bears football. Toronto Lynx was a Canadian soccer team based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1997, the team last played in the 2014 season of the Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Great Lakes Division of the Central Conference. The team played its home games at Centennial Park Stadium, where they had played since 2003. The team's colours were white, gold and black.
