Edmondo De Amicis (; 21 October 1846 – 11 March 1908) was an Italian novelist, journalist, poet, and short-story writer. His best-known book is ''Cuore'', a children's novel translated into English as ''Heart''. Early career Born in Oneglia (today part of the city of Imperia), he went to the Military Academy of Modena, and became an Army officer in the new Kingdom of Italy. Edmondo fought in the battle of Custoza during the Third Independence War, a defeat of Savoy forces against the Austrian Empire; the spectacle left him disappointed, and contributed to his later decision to leave military life. In Florence, he wrote his first sketches dealing with his frontline experience, collected as ''La vita militare'' ("Military Life", 1868), and first published by the journal of the Ministry of Defense, ''L'Italia Militare''. Edmondo Bacci (July 21, 1913 – October 16, 1978) was an Italian painter born in Venice. He is best known for a series of paintings called ''Avvenimenti''. Bacci studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and was a member of the artist's Movimento Spaziale, a group founded by Lucio Fontana. He began exhibiting internationally in 1956. Edmondo Fabbri (16 November 1921 – 8 July 1995) was an Italian football player and coach; a fast player, he mainly played as a winger. Playing career Fabbri was born in Castel Bolognese. During his club career, he played for several teams. He made his career debut with Imola in 1938, and he moved to Forlì (1939–40) the next season, later playing for Atalanta (1940–42, 1947–50) for two seasons, and subsequently with Inter (1942–43, 1945–46), and Faenza (1944), returning to Inter for a season in 1945. He moved to play with Sampdoria during the 1946–47 season, before returning to Atalanta for three seasons. He also later played for Brescia (1950–51), and Parma (1951–55), also winning the 1953–54 Serie C title. He ended his career with Mantova F.C. (1955–57). Edmondo Rossoni (May 6, 1884 – June 8, 1965) was a revolutionary syndicalist leader and an Italian fascist politician who became involved in the Fascist syndicate movement during Benito Mussolini's regime. Early life Born to a working-class family in Tresigallo, a small town in the Province of Ferrara, Rossoni was imprisoned in 1908 for his revolutionary activities as a syndicalist. After leaving Italy in 1910 and arriving in the United States, Rossoni began to work with Big Bill Haywood as an organizer for the Industrial Workers of the World union (IWW), and edited the revolutionary syndicalist newspaper ''Il Proletario'' (''The Proletarian''), which by 1912 was the Italian-language newspaper of the IWW.
