Edith WeUtonga
Edith Katiji, known professionally as Edith WeUtonga (born 22 April 1979), is a Zimbabwean Afro-jazz and traditional music artist, bass guitarist, songwriter, actress and music teacher. She was born in Kadoma, which lies approximately 166 kilometres (103 mi), by road, southwest of Harare. Being of Malawi origin and growing up in Bulawayo she sings in four different languages mainly Shona, Chichewa, Ndebele and English. Her band is called ''Utonga'' which means dawn. She is one of only a few bass guitarists in Zimbabwe who is also a lead vocalist for a band. She also plays the acoustic guitar, mbira and drums. Career After completing her secondary education, she pursued music with the Army School of Music at the Brady Barracks, in Zimbabwe's second city of Bulawayo, where she started off as a vocalist with the Army Band and soon moved on to the city's famed Amakhosi Township Square Cultural Centre. Kadoma, Zimbabwe
Kadoma, formerly known as Gatooma, is a town in Zimbabwe. Location The city is located in Kadoma District, Mashonaland West Province, one of the 10 administrative provinces in Zimbabwe. This location lies approximately , by road, southwest of Harare, the national capital and largest city in the country. The city lies on Highway A-5, between Harare and Bulawayo, approximately northeast of Bulawayo. Kadoma is situated at an elevation of above sea level. Clare Nyakujara is a US based Zimbabwean afro-fusion musician and acoustic player. Career Born Clarybel Nakujara, Clare Nyakujara was born in Harare, Zimbabwe where she grew up. She began her career professionally as a backing vocalist for other established artist from 2002 when she started to 2009 and she also performed at Open mic events in Harare during that period. She then recorded her debut album in 2010 called Haudinei which featured songs like Haudinei and Gwenyambira that became popular on radio stations in Zimbabwe mainly Classic 263 FM formerly Spot FM and Haudinei was number one on Power FM Zimbabwe charts for four weeks. Grahamstown Festival
The National Arts Festival (NAF) is an annual festival of performing arts in Grahamstown, South Africa. It is the largest arts festival on the African continent and one of the largest performing arts festivals in the world by visitor numbers. The festival runs for 11 days, from the last week of June to the first week of July every year. It takes place in the small university city of Makhanda (previously known as Grahamstown), in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Athol Fugard, Hon. , (born 11 June 1932), is a South African playwright, novelist, actor, and director widely regarded as South Africa's greatest playwright.
