Edith Sitzmann
Edith Sitzmann (born 4 January 1963, Regensburg) is a German politician of the Alliance 90/The Greens party served as State Minister of Finance in the second cabinet of Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann of Baden-Württemberg from 2017 to 2021. She was also a member of the State Parliament, representing the . From 2011 to 2016, she led the Green Party's Group in the State Parliament. Early life and education Sitzmann was born on 4 January 1963 in Regensburg. She studied the humanities at the University of Freiburg, University of Regensburg, and Heidelberg University. Sitzmann earned a magister degree in 1989, then began working until 1991 as a tour guide for American exchange students. Political career Sitzmann joined the Alliance 90/The Greens party. Dieter Salomon (born 9 August 1960 in Melbourne, Australia) is a German politician of Alliance '90/The Greens who served as mayor of Freiburg im Breisgau for two terms from 2002 until 2018. Biography Salomon grew up in the German Allgäu. He received his Abitur in 1979 in Oberstdorf, and moved to Freiburg to study Political Science, Public Finance, and Roman Philology. He received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Freiburg in 1991. During his time as a student, he became active in the local chapter of the Alliance 90/The Greens. Salomon was married to Helen Hall-Salomon, and has one child from a previous marriage. Since 2011, he lived separated from his wife. At the end of 2015, he married his new partner in Melbourne, Helga Mayer. 2021 Baden-Württemberg State Election
The 2021 Baden-Württemberg state election was held on 14 March 2021 to elect the 17th Landtag of Baden-Württemberg. The outgoing government was a coalition of Alliance 90/The Greens and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) led by Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann. The Greens remained the largest party with 32.6% of votes, an increase of two percentage points. Their junior coalition partner, the CDU, suffered its worst result in state history, falling to 24%. The opposition Social Democratic Party (SPD) also recorded a decline, but rose from fourth to third place. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) made small gains.
