Edith Jiya is a Malawian businesswoman and corporate executive who is the group chief executive officer of Old Mutual Malawi Limited. She also sits on the boards of approximately a dozen public and private Malawian companies and businesses. Background and education She was born in Malawi and attended local elementary and secondary schools. She was admitted to the University of Malawi, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree. Later, she studied at the University of Derby, in the United Kingdom, where she obtained a master's degree. She is also a qualified Chartered Insurer, since 2013. Malawi
Malawi (; or aláwi Tumbuka: ''Malaŵi''), officially the Republic of Malawi, is a landlocked country in Southeastern Africa that was formerly known as Nyasaland. It is bordered by Zambia to the west, Tanzania to the north and northeast, and Mozambique to the east, south and southwest. The University of Malawi (UNIMA) is a public university established in 1965 and until 4 May 2021, when the university underwent a delinking, was composed of four constituent colleges located in Zomba, Blantyre, and Lilongwe. Of the four colleges, the largest is Chancellor College in Zomba (now the University of Malawi under Vice-Chancellor Professor Samson Sajidu). The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) was founded in 1911. It has over 30,000 members, including more than 3,000 registered Chartered Marketers. CIM offers 130 study centres in 36 countries, and exam centres in 132 countries.
